The Indigenous student chapters at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV)—AISES, AIBL, NALSA, and NASA, cordially invite Tribal water delegations to a special pre-conference gathering prior to the annual Colorado River Water Users Association (CRWUA) Conference. This inaugural convening creates a dedicated space to connect, share insights, and prepare for the challenges and opportunities facing the Colorado River.
Mission: To strengthen the collective voice of Indigenous Tribal Nations and their allies regarding the management and operation of the Colorado River by providing a dedicated forum for shared insights, strategic preparation, and community building, ensuring that Indigenous perspectives, cultural stewardship, and ancestral responsibilities are centered for the benefit of future generations.
During our time together, we will focus on:
Building connections that strengthen Indigenous relationships and partnerships
Sharing present water priorities and issues
Discussing water policy, governance, and innovation
Format Note: This discussion will follow a UN-style format, allowing 2–3 minutes per Indigenous Nation to present priorities and insights.
Opening & Ceremony
The gathering will commence with a local tribal welcome and prayer from co-host, the Las Vegas Paiute Tribe (Nuwu “The People” – Southern Paiute).
