Always On Green Home is a NYSERDA-approved weatherization contractor serving income-eligible homeowners across Queens, Long Island, and the broader NYC metro area through the Empower+ program. We deliver whole-home energy upgrades — insulation, air sealing, health and safety improvements — funded through New York State at no cost to qualifying homeowners.
We are building our first in-house W2 weatherization crew and are looking for an experienced Crew Lead to anchor it. This is a ground-floor opportunity with a growing company that takes the work seriously.
The Role
As Weatherization Crew Lead, you will direct a 3-person crew through residential weatherization scopes of work generated by our energy auditors. Every job is different — you will read the audit report, plan the day, lead your crew through the work, and ensure everything meets NYSERDA and BPI standards before you leave the site. You are the person who makes the job go correctly and represents Always On Green Home in the homeowner’s home.
What You’ll Do
Lead a 4-man crew through full weatherization scopes: attic insulation, wall insulation (dense
pack), basement/crawlspace air sealing, and related measures
Read and execute against NYSERDA energy audit reports and scope of work documents
Operate dense pack cellulose and blown-in insulation equipment
Perform air sealing using spray foam, caulk, weatherstripping, and rigid materials
Conduct pre- and post-job blower door tests to verify air sealing performance
Perform combustion safety checks including CO testing and worst-case depressurization tests
Ensure full ACP-5 lead paint compliance protocol on pre-1978 homes
Maintain accurate job documentation: photos, scope completion checklists, NYSERDA paperwork
Communicate job status, material needs, and any site issues to management daily
Train and develop your installer and helper over time
What We’re Looking For
Required
3+ years of residential weatherization or insulation installation experience
Hands-on experience with dense pack cellulose, blown-in insulation, and air sealing
Familiarity with NYSERDA Empower+ program requirements and documentation
Blower door testing experience (pre and post)
Combustion safety testing knowledge (CO, CAZ, spillage)
ACP-5 lead paint compliance experience on occupied homes
Valid driver’s license with clean record
Physically capable of working in attics, crawlspaces, and confined spaces
Strong communication with homeowners and management
Strongly Preferred
BPI Building Analyst certification (or active candidate — we will support completion)
40-hour SST card (NYC Site Safety Training)
OSHA 10 or 30
Experience operating a company vehicle and managing daily job logistics
Bilingual English/Spanish a significant plus given our service area
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary $70,000–$85,000 depending on experience and certifications
Overtime Available and paid at 1.5x on qualifying hours
Vehicle Company vehicle provided for work travel
Tools & Equipment All tools, equipment, and PPE provided

Paid Time Off Paid holidays + PTO
Growth Path Field Operations Lead as we expand crews
Why Always On Green Home
W2 employment — stable income, full benefits, no 1099 uncertainty
Fully funded program work — NYSERDA backs every job, no chasing homeowner payments
Company vehicle, tools, and PPE provided
We will invest in your BPI certification if you don’t already have it
Meaningful work — you are directly improving the health, safety, and energy costs of low-income families
Small, fast-growing company where your skills and reliability are noticed and rewarded
Real path to senior field leadership as we build additional crews
