Hi im pretty new in powerapps. Im making a pdf viewer app where the user can select a list of items specifications. Is it possible to add a button where it will automatically lead the user to a specified page inside the pdf viewer screen?

We will use the PDF viewer to display a Word, Excel or PowerPoint document instead. To do this we must convert the docx, xlsx or pptx file to a pdf. This task can be accomplished in Power Apps with only one-line of code.

Thanks for your response and the link. I could attempt to take what Vivek demoed little further. My fear is, that such workaround is not sustainable for a serious app with multiple personas. I only hope and wish PA team comes up with Office viewer control.

You probably have an empty (no content) Excel file. Try to edit the file and write anything in it, then use the PDF viewer.

This raises another question for Mat, how can we avoid it. How can we check if a file has no content?

Hi Matheu, thanks for wyour example, this is fantastic. I tryed to put it on action, but i couldnt with xlsx files, can you please help me to understand what am i doing wrong or if there is anything i need to do to achive that. (i can see the ppt files in the PDF viewer)

I am extremely amateur in SharePoint and of course that includes the world of programming. I designed a Tabbed form in powerapps for a SharePoint list that collects user request information, and one of this tabbed screen included as Document Viewer Gallery user a different SharePoint Document Library. This Document Library has only word documents being displayed in a pdfViewer. Initially, it was working seamlessly, but I have started to notice two issues

You may not be able to view a PDF document in your app if the document resides on a server that has restrictive cross-origin resource sharing (CORS) settings. To resolve this issue, the server that hosts PDF documents must permit cross-origin requests from powerapps.com.

Not all accessibility features of PDF documents are supported because the PDF viewer is still in the experimental stage. Therefore, ShowControls should be set to true to allow users to open the document in an external application.

That said, I have posted another blog that describes an alternate technique you can use to display actual PDF documents stored in SharePoint in your Power Apps. Hopefully that blog will useful to you.

With the Power Apps review tool, you can conduct app reviews more efficiently thanks to a customizable checklist of best practices, a 360 view of your app through app checker results, app settings and a free search code/formula viewer.

The code viewer section lists all screens, controls and properties with a search and filter function allowing you to quickly find formulas within your app. You can search by control name, property or simply by any text that can be present in power apps formula.

Now the PDF viewer control toolbar is visible. Here you can zoom in and out, navigate to other pages, and open the file in a new browser tab. Opening a new browser tab will allow the user to read the file easier, plus provide native support to print the file.

Hello Paul,

i just began to build the first powerapps and saw your article. Brillant way to see pdfs in PowerApps. Unfortunately, i have documents that are not stored in a lybrary, but in a sharepointlist in the attachment-column. Is it possible to work with these documents too? (I can make sure that there is always only one document stored for each dataset).

Do you have an idea?

Thanks

Jrgen

Regarding the challenge at the bottom (Eg. email can be sent to your family member with a random message) so I used the email template and its connected to my outlook, office365users. Thing is I understand the challenge as you pick a random message to email a family member? so, would this be like a quick message you send from your phone when you cant answer? also, would i create a sharepoint list with the quick responses and connect it to my powerapps and have a button populate these options and then the email template screen will populate with the message and we can click send?

In order to display the field summaries, you will need to add a fieldsummary data source. We recommend that you create a chain search that extends the events viewer search with the fieldsummary command.

In some -- but not all -- cases, these viewers can also edit documents. Further, editing capabilities can be quite limited. For editing documents, DataViz Documents to Go for BlackBerry is the easiest to use, as it works with e-mail attachments and zip files. The Quickoffice app for the iPhone is a better editor, but it work only with files stored on the iPhone, not directly with e-mail attachments, due to an Apple-imposed limitation. However, Quickoffice for Android is more limited still -- it only supports document viewing. The sole editing app for the Android platform, Documents to Go, can merely edit e-mail attachments in Gmail messages. ff782bc1db
