Empower your end-users to go from insight to action. With the new Power Automate visual, end-users can run an automated flow all within a Power BI report. Furthermore, the executed flow can be data contextual, meaning that the Flow inputs can be dynamic based on the filters set by the end-user.

To create a new Flow, you can start from scratch or start with one of the built-in templates as an example. We plan on adding more templates to future releases, so we really appreciate if you can include which templates or connectors interest you in our feedback form.

Once you have applied a Flow to the button, we recommend testing the Flow first before you share the Flow with others. Note that you can only run these Power BI Flows in the context of a Power BI report. You cannot run these Flows in Power Automate web app or elsewhere.

The button text will indicate once the Flow has been triggered. However, to check if the Flow has run successfully, you will need to enter the edit mode of the visual and select Details within the More commands menu (. . .) of the Flow that has been triggered:

Alternatively, if you want to give any users edit access to the Flow (not just run permissions), you can hit the Share option and specify the users or groups that you want to add as an owner:

When you create a Power Automate visual in a Power BI report, your end-users can run an automated flow, just by clicking a button in your report. Furthermore, the flow can be data contextual, meaning that the flow inputs can be dynamic, based on the filters the end-users set.

To select your preferred environment for creating your flow, use the environment picker in the Power Automate visual. This includes environments where you have any built-in security role, as well as any environments where you are a co-owner of one or more flows. If you cannot find your preferred environment, see the article Troubleshoot missing environments to learn more about the requirements.

After you've applied a flow to the button, we recommend testing it before you share the flow with others. These Power BI flows can only run in the context of a Power BI report. You can't run these flows in a Power Automate web app or elsewhere.

You can only run these Power BI flows within the context of a Power BI report. You can't start flows from the Power Automate portal. To test the flow in edit mode of the report, select Back to report, and then press Ctrl + click on the button to run the flow in the context of the report. You can also navigate to edit mode or to Power Automate to view the run history of the flow and ensure it is running successfully.

Edit - Resolved, first comment!

Hi, I'm using the 'Power Automate for Power BI' visual and it's working great for me (from desktop and from published report in the web. However in my published report, when other users click the button, it says 'Unsuccessful'. I'm not sure what could be causing this - the users have the correct (owner) permissions for the data source, and the button is still working fine for me, so it isn't a problem with the automation/flow... Any ideas what could be causing this or what else I could try please? Thanks
