This was designed to take place in a 3rd grade English Language Arts class. The students should have some prior knowledge on point of view. They should also have some prior knowledge on writing mechanics, such as, punctuation, proper capitalization, and basic paragraph writing mechanics. Depending on the time allotted, this Webquest could take two or three 40 minute classes.
For implementation, students need to have the link to this Webquest as well as a partner. They should internet access to watch the videos in the Webquest. I recommend choosing partners you know already work well together, as there is both online and offline work that needs to be completed.
As the teacher, you know your students best, so you may need to make modifications based on their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). You could have a variety of stories already compiled for students to select for their point of view stories. Another modification may be to create more check-ins between each task to make sure they are effectively progressing through the Webquest. Finally, you can provide an extension for students who finish early to use a web 2.0 tool of their choice to create their story.
