Elizabeth Randall Upton is Associate Professor of Musicology at UCLA. She is author of Music and Performance in the Later Middle Ages (Palgrave, 2013), which analyzes music by Guillaume Du Fay (?1397-1474) and others from the perspectives of performers and listeners. Her work has been published in journals such as Studi Musicali, American Music, and postmedieval, and in edited collections, most recently Uncovering Music of Early European Women (1250-1750) (Routledge, 2020) and The Oxford Handbook of Music and Medievalism (Oxford University Press, 2020). She was one of the editors for a special issue on music and medievalism for postmedieval in 2019. Her current book project, Authenticity Wars, revisits critical responses to the 1980s Early Music revival.
