Julie Orlemanski teaches and writes about texts from the late Middle Ages and theoretical and methodological questions in present-day literary studies. She is Associate Professor of English at the University of Chicago and author of Symptomatic Subjects: Bodies, Medicine, and Causation in the Literature of Late Medieval England. She is also co-editor, with James Simpson, of the Norton Anthology of English Literature, Eleventh Edition, Volume A. She was Co-Editor-in-Chief at postmedieval from 2021 until 2024, and she guest-edited the 2024 essay cluster “Grounds for a Trans-Regional Medieval Studies, Beyond the Global.” Her current research concerns fictionality, voice, and literary persons in the Middle Ages.
