PostHunt (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a UK address lookup app available on Android and iOS. This Privacy Policy explains what data we process, why it is necessary, and what rights users have.
Depending on how you use PostHunt, we may process the following categories of data:
Account data.
When you sign in to PostHunt using Google or Apple, depending on the sign-in options available in your version of the app, we may receive a unique account identifier and basic profile information, such as your email address and name, if provided by the relevant authentication provider.
If you use Apple’s Hide My Email feature, PostHunt may receive a private relay email address created by Apple instead of your actual email address.
PostHunt does not receive or store the password for your Google or Apple account.
Search data.
We process postcodes that you enter or scan and the address results required to perform your search. Limited activity information may be retained to operate the service, maintain security, and prevent misuse.
Camera and text recognition.
If you use the scanning feature, label images and text are processed on your device. Label images are not uploaded to PostHunt servers. A detected postcode is submitted only when it is used to perform an address search.
Locally stored data.
Search results and settings may be stored on your device to improve speed and usability.
Technical information.
We may process limited technical information necessary to maintain security, diagnose errors, and support the stable operation of the service.
We process data to:
perform searches and display addresses;
authenticate users;
provide PostHunt’s features;
improve speed and reliability;
maintain security and prevent misuse;
diagnose technical problems;
respond to users’ requests concerning their data.
Depending on the circumstances, we process data:
to provide the features and services you request;
with your consent, where consent is required;
for our legitimate interests in maintaining the security, reliability, and proper operation of PostHunt;
to comply with legal obligations.
To operate PostHunt, we may use trusted service providers for purposes including:
authentication through Google or Apple;
server and cloud infrastructure;
obtaining address information;
opening addresses in mapping apps;
technical support and service stability.
Google and Apple may process information required for authentication in accordance with their own privacy policies.
Other service providers may process only the data necessary to provide the relevant service, in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable law.
Address information may be temporarily cached to make searches faster and reduce repeated requests.
The local cache is stored on the user’s device. Some address information may also be stored in a shared service cache. This cache is not used to identify individual users.
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to operate PostHunt, maintain security, and comply with legal obligations.
Locally stored data may remain on the device until the user clears it or uninstalls the app.
When an account is deleted, PostHunt deletes the account and the personal data associated with it. Information that has been properly anonymised and can no longer be linked to an individual may be retained for operational and statistical purposes.
Limited information may be retained for longer where necessary to comply with legal requirements, protect security, or prevent fraud.
We do not sell or rent personal data.
Data may be shared only with service providers necessary to operate PostHunt or where required by law.
If a user chooses to open an address in a third-party mapping app, any further processing of that information is governed by the privacy policy of the relevant app.
Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to:
obtain information about your personal data;
request correction of inaccurate data;
request deletion of your account and associated data;
restrict or object to certain processing;
withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
You can delete your account directly by using the Delete Account feature in PostHunt. During account deletion, the associated Google or Apple authentication permissions may be revoked where required for the selected sign-in method.
If you cannot access the app, you can submit a data deletion request by contacting:
posthunt.uk@gmail.com
To protect users, we may ask you to verify your identity before completing a request.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect data against unauthorised access, loss, alteration, or disclosure.
However, no method of transmitting or storing information can guarantee absolute security.
PostHunt is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When changes are made, we will update the “Last updated” date on this page.
If changes materially affect how personal data is used, we will provide an appropriate notice where required by law.
