In 2018, more than 800 educators from around the world gathered in Fort Worth, Texas for the World Positive Education Accelerator (WPEA) – and something powerful was set in motion.
From that gathering emerged the Positive Education Consortium, a nonprofit network that sparked an ongoing conversation about helping educators create thriving learning communities.
For eight years, Consortium members have advanced positive education by amplifying student voice, connecting research and practice, and collaborating with educators to create cultures where students and staff thrive.

Throughout this series, we explored how Bravery, Energy, Creativity, Openness, and Motivation help us recognize what is possible—and how Empowerment emerges when we put those qualities into action.
In our culminating conversation, facilitated by Anita Andersen and Shelby O'Brien, we reflected on the insights, relationships, and possibilities that have grown throughout the series. Shelby's story of a fourth-grade kindness initiative reminded us that becoming a changemaker doesn't always begin with something big. Small, intentional actions can create meaningful and lasting change.
We are grateful to every facilitator, participant, educator, student, and community member who contributed ideas, experiences, questions, and stories along the way.
Growth isn't just about learning—it's about putting learning into action.
BECOME invites each of us to carry what we've learned forward—to strengthen what's good, build meaningful connections, and take action that helps individuals, schools, and communities flourish.
