Mission
To offer Portsmouth area youth the opportunity to develop their basketball skills in a safe, supportive, and competitive environment. The players, coaches, and parents of Portsmouth Travel Basketball will emphasize sportsmanship, dedication, and teamwork. We emphasize community through increasing participation and excitement about basketball, hosting events for student athletes, and prioritizing partnerships with other Portsmouth basketball programs.

To set the standard of excellence for youth basketball by providing first class programs, high quality instruction, and instilling sportsmanship.
Guidelines
Players
Players must play in a Portsmouth Recreation or school league. If there is not one for their grade, Portsmouth Travel may allow area kids to try out.
There will be cuts. Each team will have a maximum of 12 players.
Each player must play a minimum of two minutes each half.
Players must play with their grade level team. They may not play up, except in the event we cannot field a full grade level team. Players must be in third grade or higher to play travel basketball.
Players must be committed to the team and attend weekly practices. Playing time may be based on practice attendance.
Players must abide by the Portsmouth Travel Basketball code of conduct, and the tournament/league code of conduct.
Coaches
The board decides on the coaches
Coaches must pass a background check
Coaches are encouraged to participate in training by the board
The board makes the final decision on the rosters
There will be no more than a head coach and two assistants

Parents
Parents are encouraged to participate/volunteer in fundraising and any team support activities.
