PORTSMOUTH TRAVEL BASKETBALL CODE OF CONDUCT
As a player, I must:
Respect the game, play fairly, and follow the rules and regulations.
Show respect for the officials of the game, scorekeepers, and other volunteers.
Demonstrate good sportsmanship before, during, and after games.
Be courteous to opposing teams, and treat all players, coaches, and spectators with respect.
Be modest when successful, and gracious in defeat.
Respect the privilege of the use of public facilities.
Refrain from using inappropriate language.
Refrain from horseplay and unnecessary physical contact with others, unless it is a natural occurrence during a game.
Be a supportive teammate by encouraging my fellow players, and refraining from criticizing their play.
As a coach, I must:
Respect the game, coach fairly, and follow the rules and regulations.
Show respect for the officials of the game, scorekeepers, and other volunteers.
Demonstrate good sportsmanship before, during, and after games.
Be courteous to opposing teams, and treat all players, coaches, and spectators with respect.
Be modest when successful, and gracious in defeat.
Respect the privilege of the use of public facilities.
Refrain from using inappropriate language.
Have a primary concern for the health, safety, and emotional welfare of the players.
Value all players, and strive to provide equal instruction during practice.
Follow the playing time rules established by Portsmouth Travel Basketball (Each player must play at least 2 minutes each half).
Implement a skill and set oriented team philosophy.
Work to understand the Portsmouth Clipper basketball philosophy.
Complete any training required by the PTB Board of Directors.
As a parent I must:
Show respect for the coaches, officials of the game, scorekeepers, and other volunteers.
Demonstrate good sportsmanship before, during, and after games.
Be courteous to opposing teams, and treat all players, coaches, and spectators with respect.
Be modest when successful, and gracious in defeat.
Respect the privilege of the use of public facilities.
Refrain from using inappropriate language.
Never ridicule or yell at my child or other players for making a mistake.
Refrain from yelling instructions to my child or others during a game, and leave the coaching to the coach.
At games and clinics I will stay off the floor/court unless invited.
Violations of the Portsmouth Code of Conduct may lead to dismissal from the program. All concerns of members violating the code of conduct should be forwarded to the Board of Directors at PortsmouthTravelBasketball@gmail.com. If your concern involves a board member please forward your concern to an individual board member or members.
