Oh how I miss seeing all the sweet smiles and faces of our kiddos in the halls at school! I wanted to offer some resources for both parents and students at this trying time.
Guidance activities and topics:
Kindergarten through 2nd grade were watching a safety video (Safe Side Super Chick – Stranger Safety) before spring break and if they want to finish watching it, it is on youtube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFma-EnI5UQ
With 3rd through 5th, I had planned on working on coping skills for testing anxiety, but it could be adapted to fit the current situation as well! We were going to list coping strategies from A to Z. I had a small packet of coloring pages, word finds, drawing, writing a poem/story/song lyrics, etc. for them to work on as we were going to discuss which strategy worked best for each student when they were struggling with something. https://www.thehelpfulcounselor.com/18-coping-skills-strategies-for-children-and-teens/ has several helpful strategies as well.

- This site has various topics depending on your need of the day! Whether it be feelings (as I am sure we are all going through lots of different emotions right now!), conflict resolution, etc. this site offers tips, sites, activities, and more to help!

The county is handing out food as well on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 to 12 at Portland High School and Clyde Riggs Elementary. The flyer can be seen on the county's facebook page as well as PGE's PTO page. :)
