Project Description

For this project, I was able to explore recent and relevant Cyber Security issues from the news and identify the risks and vulnerabilities frequently taken advantage of in technology around the world. In this assignment I identified two news articles that had examples of Cyber Security issues and described the situation, suggestions in avoiding this kind of problem, and source evaluation.

In this article, the author addresses the increasingly prevalent issue of identity theft and how Companies House, the government’s public database of businesses, is an easy resource for those committing identity theft. The author warns of the ease in which identity theft can occur and the danger of those who's identity was taken. Companies House is now making changes to combat this challenge and reduce the risk of this happening to others. Ways to try and decrease the risk of identity theft include being very careful about sharing your information on websites or other public places and knowing how to identify identity theft and catch it before it become a greater problem.

Lesson Learned

While working on this project, I learned about the prevalence of Cyber Security and its importance. Being able to explore different topics that were relevant articles about issues of cyber security and knowing how to combat these problems before they arise. I also learned more about source evaluation and identifying credible articles.
