Welcome to My Cancer Fundraiser

Hello, Amazing Supporters,

I hope this message finds you well. My name is Byron Burke, known as Popâ Ur-Mää, hailing from the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois.

I've always cherished my privacy, but today, I'm reaching out to share a chapter of my life that needs your support. You might know me as the creative force behind the iconic Ten City, a dance group that played a pivotal role in shaping the early 1990s House Music scene. Our journey resulted in chart-topping hits, gold and silver albums, and international acclaim that touched hearts across four continents.

In the autumn of 2016, a urine analysis revealed excessive protein production and blood abnormalities in my body. Subsequently, my physician recommended seeking a second opinion from a hematologist to validate the initial lab results.

After consulting with the hematologist, a "Bone Marrow Biopsy" was conducted. The biopsy results confirmed the presence of "Smoldering Multiple Myeloma" (SMM), a type of bone marrow cancer. This cancer acts akin to termites inside a healthy living tree, progressively damaging the bone tissues within the core of the skeletal system.

On July 29, 2017, my life took another dramatic turn when a supposed business partner introduced an untraceable foreign substance into my water bottle. This act led to me having multiple panic attacks and blackouts, endangering both of us that evening. Subsequently, I found myself in the Cook County Department of Correction from August 1, 2017, to October 14, 2022.

Through divine intervention, I utilized my time in Cook County to delve into criminal law, empowering me to take control of my case and act as my own representative. Had I not chosen to dismiss my court-appointed Public Defender and advocate for myself in court, I would still be detained in Cook County. You can refer to [my Affidavit filed with the Illinois Clerk of the Circuit Court, Cook County Office](https://bit.ly/what_happened_to_byron_burke) for further details on this incident.

Upon my release, I had no family or friend support which forced me to seek residence at a Halfway house(s) on the south side of Chicago until June 2023. My now ex-wife filed for divorce in 2020 which has shattered my world. It’s been extremely difficult finding employment to generate a continuous cash flow to support myself, pay for medical expenses, purchase the organic foods needed to combat this illness, and secure funding to get my apartment.

Despite these setbacks, I've been resilient. I've launched Popâ Ur-Mää Global Consulting Enterprise, extending my expertise to assist startups in brand establishment and digital marketing. The past six months have seen me providing pro bono services to luxury brands, a testament to the realization of a vision born in the face of adversity.

I'm reaching out because I need your help. Funds raised will be instrumental in covering medical expenses, supporting holistic treatments, securing immediate housing before March 2024, purchasing essential organic foods, and providing pre-seed funding for Popâ Ur-Mää Global Consulting Enterprise.

Your support means the world to me, and any contribution, big or small, is a step towards rebuilding a life that celebrates creativity and resilience. Thank you for standing by me during this challenging time.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Byron Burke, AKA Popâ UR-Mää.
