Pool Mastic refers to the expansion joint caulking or waterproof sealant around swimming pools between coping and deck. Is necessary to replace it every 3-10 years to maintain a waterproof, flexible seal between the deck and the pool shell.  It prevents water from entering the subsoil which causes soil erosion, deck heaving, and loose coping, tile loss, while allowing for structural movement, ultimately preventinng costly repairs 

WHAT MASTIC PREVENT 

Structural damage: old cracked, or missing mastic allows water to seep behing the pool wall and underneath the deck, leading to soil erosion, cracked concrete and serious structural failure.

Prevent Deck Heaving: Moinsture in the soil can cause, particularly clay-based soil, to expand, causing the deck to rise and crack.

Protect Coping and Tiles: The flexible sealant prevents the deck from pushing against the pool shell, which can cause coping stones to loosen or pool tiles to fall off.

Manage Expansion and contraction: Mastic is designed to be flexible: as temperatures change, the deck and pool move independently, and the sealant prevents this movement from damaging the pool structure.

Stop water Loss/sub-surface Erosion: It seals the expansion gap to prevent water from leaking out of the pool keeping pool chemicals from eroding the soil fundation under the deck.

SIGNS THAT REPLACEMENT IS NEEDED:

TILE CLEANING & SANDBLASTING

Over time, pool tiles accumulate calcium buildup, scale, and stains that regular brushing cannot remove and can make your pool look old and neglected. Our tile cleaning and sandblasting service remove tough deposits safely and restores your pool tile to its original look without damaging the surface.

Sandblasting or abrasive blasting, utilizes high-pressure air that propels abrasive materials (like sand, glass beads, or grit) at a target surface using compressed air or water to clean, smooth, shape, or etch it by removing calcium buildup, scale, contaminants, rust, old paint,  algae from pool tiles or other unwanted material from waterline tiles and surrounding surfaces.  It is generally safer and faster than harsh acid washing, suitable for porcelain, ceramic, and stone, and can be done while the pool is filled, partially drained or drained.

HOW IT WORKS?

WHAT IS AN ACID WASH?

An acid wash is a deep-cleaning process used to remove stubborn stains, algae buildup, mineral  deposits, and discoloration from a pool's plaster surface.  It involves draining the pool and carefully applying a dilluted acid solution to restore the pool's original appearance.

This service is typically used for plaster, marcite, or quartz pools.

WHEN IS AN ACID WASH NEEDED?

An acid wash may be recommended if your pool has:

• Heavy algae stains that regular brushing can't remove

• Calcium or mineral buildup

• Rust or metal stains

• Severe discoloration or uneven coloring 

• A neglected pool that has been green or dirty for a long time.

Acid washing is not part of routine maintance and should only be done when necessary

WHY WE DON'T RECOMMEND DRAINING A POOL UNLESS NECESSARY

Draining a pool can cause serious issues such as:

• Pool shell popping out of the ground due to hydrostatic pressure

• Cracks in the structure

• Damage to surrounding decking

Thay is the reason why we always inspect the pool first and explore safer cleaning options before recommending an acid wash.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Acid washing slightly removes a thin layer of plaster.  For this reason, it should not be performed frequently.  In many cases, proper water chemistry and regular maintenance can prevent the need for an acid wash.
