I worked as a research fellow at IIRS from Sep 2014 to March 2019 where I contributed to the ISRO-funded research project on 'vulnerability assessment of mountain ecosystem in western Himalaya'. During my Ph. D., I studied the impacts of projected climate and LULC changes on the distribution & assemblages of species in western Himalaya using RS, GIS & machine learning techniques. My doctoral work also led to the generation of fragmentation hotspots and decadal LULC maps in western Himalaya using RS optical data (AWIFS, IRS-LISS III, Landsat), visual interpretation & Google Earth Engine API. My research work has been featured in Ecological Indicators, Biodiversity and Conservation, Climate Change Ecology and Current Science.

I was a recipient of the Young Scientists Summer Programme at IIASA, Austria in 2016. After I graduated with a PhD in forest ecology & environment, I worked with an environmental advisory group in New Delhi within the project ‘Forest PLUS-2.0’. The work tasks included conducting baseline evaluation of forest resources, carbon stock assessments and payment for ecosystem services in Bihar, Telangana and Kerala using field surveys and RS tools. My current position as a research associate at the Dept. of Agricultural Physics, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi is focused on regional soil moisture mapping using high-resolution satellite data: microwave (Sentinel-1), thermal (Landsat 8), optical (Sentinel-2 and Landsat 8) & machine learning techniques for supporting agro-advisories in rain-fed agriculture.
