Structure and Function

The Estates General of Pontunia is a unicameral body, meaning it consists of a single legislative chamber. It is elected by the citizens through a proportional method and holds legislative power. The Parliament is elected for a three-month term unless dissolved earlier.

Members and Voting

Members of Parliament (MPs) are elected to represent the people and vote on legislative matters based on their best conscience and will. Political parties cannot demote or expel members for not complying with party instructions.

President of the Chamber of Deputies and Lord President of the Chamber of Peers

The President of the Chamber of deputies is a position held within the Prime Minister after they gain majority. They are responisble for keeping the docket up and maintaing order. The Lord President of the Chamber of Peers is held by the Crown Prince of Merit which serves the same function.

Legislative Process

The Estates General is responsible for creating and amending laws, including those with constitutional status.

Government Oversight

The Estates General has the authority to remove the government through a motion of no confidence. It also proposes High Court judges to the Crown and can dissolve itself through a motion or by royal decree.
