In response to the environmental impacts of fast-fashion trends in 2020, I created a business plan during my foundation year at the university of Sunderland named Prosperous Ltd., and worked as the project administrator. The company's mission is to find practical solutions in clothing industries to benefit environmental conservation, which is affected by rising carbon emissions and water pollution.
I managed to find potential suppliers in turning recycled plastic bottles, which are required to be melted and weaved in the form of polyester yarn to generate t-shirts. Back in 2019, several companies including H&M, Zara, and Uniqlo are sourcing alternative environmentally friendly materials as well, but my USP is the scale as SMEs, I have flexibility in designing the clothes in a short period and the ability to offer customisation products.
I implemented this competitive advantage to gain customers in a niche market, eventually driving the sales up to 30-40%, in the fiscal year ending 2020, Q3.
