I was selected internationally as one of 100 RISE Fellows (2024 cohort) by Schmidt Futures and the Rhodes Trust. The RISE Fellowship is funded by a billion dollar commitment by Eric Schmidt, former CEO of Google, to identify and support youth with strong leadership and growing potential. I attended a fully-funded residential summit at Oxford University, where I networked with other peers and mentors, discussing effective leadership and solutions to world issues. Over 10,000 international youth applied for the RISE Fellowship, which involved interviews, a thorough digital application, and rigorous verification. Only 100 Fellows were chosen, and I was one of only 8 to be selected from the United States.
Presidential Environmental Youth Award
I was selected as one of ~15 youth in the United States to receive the President’s Environmental Youth Award, and the only awardee from the Pacific Southwest. I was directly acknowledged by the US Government’s Environmental Protection Agency for my novel bioreactor design for plastic bioremediation.
I was selected as one of 106 US National STEM Champions in 2025 to attend the National STEM Festival in Washington D.C. The National STEM Festival is sponsored by EXPLR and the US Department of Education. National STEM Champions are selected through a multi-step process involving poster judging and video submission. As one of 3 Californians selected, I received a fully-funded trip to Washington D.C., where I presented my research in front of other researchers and policymakers.
Regeneron Science Talent Search Scholar
I was selected nationwide as one of 300 Scholars in the Regeneron Science Talent Search for my work in developing bacteria for polyurethane degradation. Established in 1942, Regeneron STS is the nation’s most prestigious pre-college science and mathematics competition. As a scholar, I received a $2000 scholarship for education.
