Europe in the late 11th century was just beginning to experience the growing power of the Islamic Empires in the east. After the call for aid of the Byzantine Emperor Alexios, the Pope put out the call for the beginnings of a holy war to reclaim the land of the Bible, along with untold riches that accompanied the expedition.Â
Armies of knights and nobles would traverse across the vast continent of Europe and Asia Minor, the countries of which the students will be learning in this lesson, as well as the causes of the People's Crusade. Studnets will learn content, but also broaden their horizons in regards to geography outside of the United States.
