This free blind clock will keep track of all your poker rounds and gives a warning when the blinds have gone up.

You can set up the poker rounds, round time, poker blind values and ante very easily in your custom setup. You can also choose to play with an easy default poker setup.

Travis Poker Director is a poker league management system that integrates directly with the poker timer. It allows you to track the results of your players across multiple tournaments in your gaming seasons, and store all of the information online. All of your data is shown in a public league table, including an overall leader board, results of individual tournament games and player performances

Casino Mode is an additional set of tools designed for running large scale events. Dual screen setup means the tournament can be managed in the background whilst players only ever see the timer screen. You can display collections of photos or sponsor logos, and show custom messages using a scrolling ticker tape.

The blind structure (or schedule) is one of the most important details of running a successful tournament.Gradual increases of the blinds at each level and finishing on time are characteristics of a good blind structure.

To calculate a blind structure, the minimum information you need is the number of players, target duration, andthe starting blind level (which is usually the smallest chip denomination you have). It is also necessary to knowhow many chips there will be in play and how many rounds there will be. The blind calculator tool below can takecare of that and help set up your perfect structure.

To calculate a blind structure, you need the starting blind level, the estimated total value of the tournamentchips in play (initial buy-ins plus rebuys and add-ons) and the desired length of the tournament. Use the toolbelow to help set up your perfect structure.

This section discusses some tournament blind structure theory, which explains why the PokerSoup.com tournamentblind structure calculator suggests blind levels the way it does and what you can change to create the rightblind structure for your game.

Most tournaments start with 50-100 big blinds. Anything around 200 big blinds is considered a "deep stack"tournament. Deep stack tournaments are considered to be full of skillful poker play and not just pushing yourmoney all in before the flop. The latter occurs quickly in tournaments that start with less than 50 big blinds, which are also aptly nick-named "luck-fests". There just aren't enough chips to maneuver and play real poker.

Most live tournaments employ blind level lengths of 15, 20, 30, 45, or 60 minutes. The blind calculator cancalculate blinds for any of these blind levels. With a set tournament length, longer blind levels result inless number of rounds and shorter blind levels result in more rounds.

The greatest benefit of using the PokerSoup.com tournament blind structure calculator is the assurance ofconstantly increasing blind amounts. This is an important aspect of tournament play. If the blinds increase(preferably slowly) at a constant rate, players do not spend an inordinate amount of time being deep- orshort-stacked and there are no game-altering blind increases in the middle of the tournament.

For example, if the blinds increase from 150/300 to 200/400, that is an increase of 33%, or(200+400)/(150+300). This is a comfortable increase. Similarly, in the later stages of the tournament aftermany players are knocked out, a blind increase from 3000/6000 to 4000/8000 is also 33%.

Eventually, the blinds (and antes) induce action to end the tournament. After all, a tournament usually doeshave a set duration (or a goal, anyway). As a player, it is up to you to figure out how aggressive it isnecessary to play in order to keep up with the blinds. Constant gradual increases make this easier to figure out.

You can adjust in brightness of the lower screen to save battery, while keeping the brightness of the upper one (which is the one that shows the relevant information at all times). In its complete menu of options you can configure parameters such as the number of rounds, the time or the value of the blinds to your liking.

The game comes with a set of questions, dry-erase markers and answer cards to record responses, betting chips and poker chips to keep score and bets, a casino-like felt betting mat to place bets, and a 30-second timer to keep game going.

Unfortunately, I wasn't too impressed by the components. Two of the seven dry-erase markers weren't working, and you may want to raid your own deluxe poker chip set for chips. The questions themselves are on nice coated paperstock. Contact North Star Games at NorthStarGames.com for replacement parts. They have good customer service and replied within a few days of my contacting them.

2. Each player writes down their answer. Using the timer, players have 30 seconds to write down their answer. The winning answer is the guess that is the closest without going over. Most players will quickly come up with an answer, and we often didn't use the timer.

4. Each player takes his two betting chips and bets on any one or two answers. In subsequent rounds, players may bet any poker chips they won in addition to their betting chips. Only the poker chips are lost, and a player may make no more than two bets. Again, the timer is used and each player had 30 seconds to make a bet. Yes, you can switch your bet at the last second!

5. The winning answer is the closest answer without going over. Players who bet on the winning answer receive their payout, so if you bet a betting chip on 2:1 odds, you receive two poker chips. Players then retrieve their betting chips. Poker chips bet on losing answers return to the bank. The player who wrote the winning answer receives a bonus of three poker chips. In play, the betting chips take awhile for players to familiarize themselves with.

Suitable for those with physical limitations: Any player with difficulty writing can simply state their answer after all the other answer cards have been turned in face-down, and have another player write the answer down for them. Vision-impaired people can have the numerical answers read to them. Color-blind people do not have to distinguish colors in this game. (The betting chips are only differentiated by color, but, in practice, how many chips are on a bet is as important as who is betting on what answer.) Some people have difficulty holding a hand of cards, and this is not needed in this game. If you don't mind the added downtime, you can play without the 30-second time limits. And, of course, this is not a dexterity or reflex game (cf. Jenga).

Components usable in other games: The dry erase markers and cards can be used in any game with a short answer (eg. Balderdash). The poker chips, of course, can be used in other games. You may want to throw away the Wits and Wagers insert and put a standard poker deck and your Balderdash question cards in the box.

Deborah Kendrick interviews Mike May, president of Sendero Group, to learn how Sendero collaborated with Code Factory to create Mobile Geo, a GPS program that runs on cell phones. Instead of standing pat, May realized that his product needed to grow and work on different platforms. Read about how two companies worked together to make GPS technology more portable and available to many more people who are blind.

Freedom Scientific recently released the English version of JAWS 10, the most recent version of the company's popular screen-reading software, with enhancements that the company says will expand employment and educational opportunities for computer users who are blind. New features in JAWS 10 that the company highlighted are AutoForms Mode, JAWS Tandem, support for iTunes, and RealSpeak Direct Solo.

AutoForms mode is designed to assist users who are blind to navigate the Internet and Firefox and promises to render easier access to HTML and PDF pages. JAWS Tandem provides JAWS users with remote access, enabling one JAWS user to access the computer of another for training or troubleshooting. The RealSpeak Direct Solo Synthesizer is said to be more responsive than is the SAPI 5 option in JAWS 8 and 9.

For mathematicians, math students, and teachers who are blind, a collaboration between ViewPlus Technologies and Design Science sounds like good news. Using the Tiger Software Suite from ViewPlus and a Tiger Braille embosser, along with MathType from Design Science, the new option makes it possible to create custom math documents in Microsoft Word. Users can insert equations from MathType into a Word document, add desired text and graphics, and translate the document to braille in one easy step. Equations appear in both braille and ink, allowing sighted readers to follow along. The documents can then be embossed using a Tiger embosser for high-resolution tactile output. Translation to the Nemeth code and LtTeX is currently available, and additional math codes will become available in 2009.

The company that was the first to introduce remote access to computer users who are blind has just released System Access 3.0, bringing new features and improving some old ones to this popular screen-reading software. Perhaps the most newsworthy addition is the product's full support of 64-bit operating systems, which, according to a recent announcement, will enable the average user to buy any Netbook or other 64-bit-based product off the shelf and know that it can be accessible. 2351a5e196
