This easy technique allows you to all-but-guarantee hitting at least a Great Throw every time on a Raid Boss and not wasting a single ball and when you get used to the technique can master landing a excellent throw every time. Follow these steps:
Hold down the Pokéball to change the size of the coloured ring around the Pokemon, and release at a circle size you'd be comfortable hitting (start with Great!)
If you do your entire throw during the Pokemon's attack (not jump) animation and don't otherwise touch the screen, the circle size will be un-altered.
Time it so that you start and release the throw during a single attack. If you release just before the attack ends, the attack will have ended by the time the ball hits the Pokemon, so the ball will hit the circle you set.
So just wait for an attack each time, and practice the timing!
The circle is not reset between throws, so if you're happy after one throw, leave it for the next.
Tired of watching the catch screen? Tired of missing all those spawns on Community Day? Here is a simple technique which will allow you drastically speed up the catching process to allow you maximise your catches and more importantly rank up that delicious stardust. Follow these steps:
Take your non-dominant thumb and tap+hold the berry or Pokeball selection button on the far side of your thumb. Then drag it across the bottom of the screen to the near side, without releasing.
While keeping it held, perform a normal throw with your dominant hand.
After you successfully release the ball, drop your thumb. The ball/berry menu should appear. Tap the screen to close it, then tap the flee button.
You will have had a catch/jump-out/flee as normal. If you re-tap the Pokemon and it throws an error (or it just disappears), it's a catch or flee (check the journal if you care). Else, you can re-encounter the Pokemon and try again.
If there's server lag and you go too fast, there's a small chance the catch won't register, in which case nothing happens; you can avoid this by waiting for the spinning loading ball in the top-left corner to disappear before fleeing.
