The HAPAX concept seems to be based on patterns running in parallel on each track, and sections or songs seem to be nothing more than starting information for patterns. This is probably why there is currently no way to set a song position pointer within a pattern. *

The Pointer Sisters' second album, the 1974 release That's a Plenty, continued in the jazz and be-bop style of its predecessor but provided one exception that caused a great deal of interest: "Fairytale", written by Anita and Bonnie, was a country song that reached No. 13 on the pop charts, and No. 37 on the country chart. Based on this success, the group was invited to Nashville, Tennessee where they achieved the distinction of becoming the first Black group to perform at the Grand Ole Opry. In 1975, the Pointer Sisters won a Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, with Anita and Bonnie also receiving nominations for the Grammy Award for Best Country Song as songwriters of "Fairytale".[5] The song was also recorded by Elvis Presley.

By 1977, both June and Bonnie had left the group.[5] June wanted to take a break, and Bonnie left to start a solo career. Bonnie married Motown Records producer Jeffrey Bowen in 1978. She subsequently signed a contract with Motown and this led to a brief, moderately successful, solo career. Her first self-titled album produced the disco song "Heaven Must Have Sent You". The album was produced by Berry Gordy and husband Jeffrey Bowen. The song became a top 20 pop hit in the US in September 1979.

In 1983, the Pointer Sisters released Break Out.[5] With the advent of MTV, videos of the Pointer Sisters' songs began to be played in heavy rotation. In 1984, they achieved four US Billboard Hot 100 top 10 singles in a row.[5] "Automatic" reached No. 5; "Jump (For My Love)" reached No. 3; a remix of "I'm So Excited" was added to the album almost a year into its shelf life and reached No. 9; and "Neutron Dance", also featured on the Beverly Hills Cop soundtrack, reached No. 6.

These Planet Records singles marked the end of their run of Top 10 hits in the US, although they did score a major hit with their subsequent RCA Records song "Dare Me", which reached number 11 in 1985. That song would also be the group's last Australian Top 10 hit. Another single, "Goldmine", reached number 33 on the US Hot 100 in 1986.

Ruth became a grandmother as "Break Out" reached success; Anita became a grandmother in 1990 when her only child Jada gave birth to Roxie. On September 8, 1990, Ruth married a man named Michael Sayles (born 1957). The sisters entertained US troops in the Persian Gulf in 1991 with Bob Hope. By 1991, June had ended her thirteen-year marriage to William Oliver Whitmore II. In August 1993 at age 47 Ruth gave birth to twins Ali and Conor Sayles. 1994 saw the release of the Various Artists album Rhythm, Country and Blues which featured duets of country artists with R&B artists. This album contains a duet with the Pointer Sisters and Clint Black together on the classic song "Chain of Fools".

In recent years, many Pointer Sisters songs have been covered by contemporary artists, such as "Jump (For My Love)" by Girls Aloud, which reached number two at the UK singles chart in 2003, "Dare Me" was turned into the dance smash "Stupidisco" by Belgian DJ Junior Jack, indie band Le Tigre covered in 2004 "I'm So Excited" on their third album This Island, and French DJ Muttonheads sampled "Back in My Arms" on his 2005 club hit "I'll Be There". Most recently in 2007, Tommy Boy recording artist Ultra Nat has released a dance-pop cover of "Automatic" that reached #1 at the US Hot Dance Music/Club Play charts. In 2005, "Pinball Number Count" was re-edited for Coldcut's Ninja Tune label, becoming a surprise dance hit. The same song has also been sampled by Venetian Snares of the Planet Mu record label.[14]

The Pointer Sisters were scheduled to play six Australian dates in May and June 2016 [21] with the lineup of Ruth, Issa and Sadako Johnson. Media reports indicated that Anita's health issues necessitated her retiring from the group.[22][23] In a February 25, 2016 interview with News.com.au, Ruth said of the Pointer Sisters recent live performance history: "I'm almost inclined to call [the group's live engagements] pop-up engagements, not tours. We don't do the tours like we used to do back in the day. We'll leave that to the young folks, out on the road in buses for months at a time....We still have a good time, we do a lot of corporate dates, a lot of casinos, special events, fundraisers, that's our audience. We're so glad [the Pointer Sisters's songs are] still relevant and people still want to hear them being sung and we love singing them."[22]

When i'm in a middle of a song for example, I stop Logic. After that, I put a cycle for one bar or more, whatever, & I start Logic, all my slaves devices continue from there stopped position, not from the bar position. therefore they're not synchronize.

Regarding loops I've found that Logic sends song position messages corresponding exactly to changes of the song position line (SPL). So if Logic is stopped somewhere within a loop and restarted, the SPL jumps back to the loop begin and Logic sends the corresponding new song position pointer.

However, I've noticed that Logic sends at restart the midi message 'continue' instead of 'start'. This is technically correct since 'continue' means start at the *current* position which just has been set to the loop begin. But maybe this method isn't understood properly by all midi slave devices, for example by ignoring song position pointer changes when receiving a 'continue' message.

This song is good...really good...Way too good for 1980. 1980 was still kinda in the disco era but also for the start of synthesizers. Have more synths towards dance music, disco was still there but it was transforming into Post-disco. Post-disco is still disco but has more groundwork and build-up with the melody and choruses. The Synthesizers really help by giving more sounds & by telling more of a story in the background. Disco relied on a heavy kick (4-kicks), and a stilted snare(2-snares) to make a beat while post-disco got more creative. Having louder claps, the kicks can range from (1-5or6) & snare can be from (1-3or4) with the help of a drum machine. That is the magic of post-disco.

.When the song starts you hear the "intro pre-chorus" with synths, bass guitar, and drum machine, after that you get to the first verse. You hear the synths having a different vibe like it's laying the groundwork to build to something & you hear the vocals of the lead singer.

.The 3rd and Final chorus,(This is what the song was building up to) after the group says "He's So Shy" the same arp synth from the end part of the 2nd chorus comes back with a cleaner sound is about to overlap the other synth that was playing in the (Intro pre-chorus, 1st & 2nd chorus). Just as the lead singer quickly says "That's why I love my baby" the arp synth gets louder but isn't loud enough. The group says "That sweet little boy who caught my eye" the arp synth is getting ready to try again. After another "He's So Shy" "I've got a long time to know him" the arp synth is building even louder and other "He's So Shy" the arp synth released & has reached its peak in the song during the group saying "I'm so glad I got to show him" [This part feels like it's taking you somewhere it's showing you that this is what the '80s is going to be like.] After that, the group says "Oooh-wee, oooh-wee, baby" with "He's So Shy" a couple of times with the song fading out & it seems like the arp synth wasn't even done yet showcasing its peak.

Like with most early 80's songs, synths are sprinkled throughout the song(some of the times). But (He's So Shy) the synths hits you like a TRUCK! & the synths are spread out throughout the song, not strictly for the choruses.

I may have missed some but I believe I marked all the changes I made to fix this. Lots of syntax errors that I placed a // Fixed next to. Also mainly I changed the allocation to new Songs[20], so you are allocating enough space for 20 new songs.

LIMBONG: Anita Pointer sang the lead and co-wrote the song with her sister Bonnie. And while other Pointer Sisters songs were indebted to jazz, "Fairytale" was almost defiantly country. The song earned them their first Grammy and got them an invitation to Nashville's famed Grand Ole Opry, which, according to Anita Pointer's own autobiography, led to protesters carrying signs that read, keep country country. Their performance was such a hit, they ended up singing "Fairytale" three more times that night.

LIMBONG: Anita Pointer was born in 1948 in Oakland, Calif. By their commercial peak in the '80s, The Pointer Sisters proved themselves to be an agile group, with Anita singing lead on many of their hit songs from the sensual "Slow Hand"...

All, using a musicmaker shield and can tie i/o to trigger playing specific files since I know the name of the file and can pass the required parameter (const char *trackname). However, I wanted to be able to create a more dynamic environment. First attempt, I modified the standard examples in the SD library to count the number of song files on the SD card and then used a method that took the index number to return a pointer to that specific filename. As suggested in everything I could read, I used the File.name() to return a char * to the filename and had a custom search method return this. I received a generic warning once only, the first time compiled:

However, all searches stated to ignore and none could suggest a solution. Inside the search method I printed out the value of the return object to the screen. Since I named all my files, track00.mp3, searching for a song with index of 4 resulted in the method selecting track004.mp3, and printing that value out in the method. However, in code that called it, the returned object was garbled. Thus trying to use it to play a song could not work. 17dc91bb1f
