Some items will need booking. Ideas:
Hike up Authur's seat (extinct volcano)
Edinburgh castle - noon to see howitzer fire (local time signal for incoming ships - who needs bells)
Hop on hop off bus - sounds hockey but actually really fun
Afternoon tea in signet library - the best - ladies will love it
Camera obscura
Shopping for the ladies (there's plenty)
Darkside walking tour - body snatching - Edinburgh needed bodies for the medical school
St Giles rooftop tour
Pubs! Pear Tree beer garden (World Cup) - my old local pub
Tour, tasting - check in on Colin's Whisky aging. Could also do a group dinner in great hall

Either sea, St Andrews sands or fresh water loch.
Ladies are not included.
Well as a running group - why not re-enact the classic movie scene shot on St Andrews Sands - combine with wild swim and wood sauna?
Great fun - only two places in the UK that do this.

Forgan's is a bar restaurant that does Scottish country dances Friday or Sat night at 1030pm.
Ladies might enjoy this. If there is interest can arrange an hour class before hand (it's really not hard).

Hiking Lomond Hill in Fife offers options for both the higher West Lomond (Fife's highest peak) and East Lomond, with popular routes including challenging circular trails around both or shorter out-and-back hikes, starting from places like Craigmead car park and providing stunning views of Fife, the Tay, and surrounding areas, suitable for various fitness levels.
Suggest Hike and then down to Falkland for "refreshments"
Got to have a group challenge at this famous putting green - loser at each hole has to take a wee snifter.
5 mins from middle of town. I love the bottle dungeon.
Protestant preacher George Wishart may have been imprisoned in the castle’s bottle dungeon. Cardinal Beaton’s murdered body was certainly kept in the dank and airless hole. The assassination sparked the brutal siege of 1546–47, when opposing sides dug the remarkable mine and countermine into the rock close to the castle battlementswww.historicenvironment.scot/visit-a-place/places/st-andrews-castle/overview/
Falkland is at the base of the Lomond Hills about 20 miles from St Andrews. Larger village, pretty and has a pub - the Stag Inn - been there a few times in my youth and bar at the The Covenanter Hotel.
Village used for TV / Movies - see photo - you can see Lomond hill in background (the one we'll hike). The hotel is the building with orange front entrance.
The palace itself was the summer hunting lodge for the King of Scotland - and where the Monks from Lindores Abbey delivered their Eau de Vie. Falkland palace also has one of the oldest tennis courts in the country - but not quite the tennis we know - it has walls.
