10:00-10:50 Keynote: Who Tells Your Story? (Wes Fryer)
Description: In our golden age of learning and sharing, podcasting is playing a powerful role in connecting people with ideas as well as each other. In this kickoff session to our podcasting experience, we’ll explore podcasting from the perspective of both podcast consumer and producer. On the consumption side, we’ll highlight different podcasting examples, podcatching apps, and techniques for using smart assistants (Google Home / Alexa) to enjoy as well as subscribe to podcasts. On the production side, we’ll highlight software tools and apps for podcast recording, editing, normalization and publishing. We’ll cover the basics of podcasting technology requirements as well as tips for planning, storyboarding, interviewing, and finding or creating audio for your episodes. We’ll also highlight ways YouTube can be used as a podcasting / webshow platform, and efficient workflows for converting web video to compressed, download-friendly audio.
11:00-11:45 Workshop 1: Mobile / Quick Edit Podcasting (Wes Fryer)
Description: Anchor (anchor.fm) is a free app and podcast hosting platform which empowers anyone to create and publish a multi-segment audio podcast with audio bumpers and auto-ducking of background music with narration. We’ll learn and practice how to use Anchor to create, edit and publish podcasts.

12:30-1:15 - Workshop 3: Podcast Production with Free Tools and Voice Recorders (Wesley Fryer)
Description: We’ll learn and practice how to use portable audio recorders and free software (Audacity) for audio editing, developing our skills to cut audio, layer tracks, adjust the volume of background audio, fade tracks in and out, apply adjustment filters, and more. We’ll explore and compare different audio formats, download and use the LAME MP3 encoder, and discuss different options for podcast hosting as well as subscription/feed creation.
1:25 - 2:25 - Workshop 4: Networking For and With Podcasting Educators (Michelle Waters)
Description: Have you considered how a podcast can help you network with and support other teachers? We’ll learn how to find other education podcasters, interview teachers for your podcast, and appear on other educator’s podcasts.
