After a long day of school when no one was home I felt lonely, so I walked over to Nana’s house during a warm sunny summer afternoon. I walked into the house, slung my backpack on the bench sitting by the doorway and flung off my shoes. Ran up the stairs to the living room where, with no surprise, I found my nana in her comfy blue recliner. With the footrest up and her playing her word game on her iPad. There's the familiar random chime of the wind chimes. I didn’t tell her I was coming, but she looked up smiled with both mouth and eyes and said, “What’s up bug.”
I am from Alden, New York, and this is how I became me.
