A pocket-sized guide for WSC.
If you're seeing this, you might be lost. You can find our updated website at https://pocketpwaa.org. Otherwise, enjoy this archive of our old website!
Official Theme Update!
The new theme has been released. "Reimagining the present", huh? Pretty interesting...
New updates still coming very soon, now that the curriculum is soon out, such as:
Rennovations! We gonna make it look *better* - Including new logo!
Collaborations! (Study guides are hard to make)
Tutoring and individualized content! - But unfortunately with a fee (WSC is expensive lol)
A looming fear that the 2024 season is still going to be mayhem
The World Scholar's Cup contains a vast six-part curriculum that needs to be studied in order to ace the challenge and bowl. They are centered around a different theme each year (with this year being A World Distorted) and can be learnt using several creative approaches. We have created guides to assist you in understanding each part of the curriculum. Then, test yourself with the quizzes to prove your knowledge. Weekly quizzes were provided, albeit not anymore for now.
The World Scholar's Cup is a huge competition with many sections and events. Learn about them here and prepare for them in advance. How do you master the Curriculum? How do you crush every debate? How do you get a reader interested? All of this is here! And no, please don't ask for our qualifications.
Hello Scholars! If you're new, welcome to the Scholars Cup!
This website is meant to assist you and your team by providing a brief and concise overviews to the World Scholar's Cup in order to give you an idea of what to expect, as well as help you prepare.
Take care of your alpaca and good luck in the Scholar's Cup!
When we research topics and ideas, we need to make sure we are stepping in the right direction. Here are some very useful websites and links for independent research that our team uses frequently. Do not limit yourselves to these resources, but they are trustworthy and should be considered when stuck.
https://www.wikipedia.org/. Open-source research on many different articles is very useful for the key points of several topics.
https://www.britannica.com/. This is a great place for the History section of the WSC as well as many different other topics. It provides solid data and research on the topics and is very useful for quick summaries.
https://www.nytimes.com/ca/. NY Times as well as many different news articles will be referenced in the main curriculum. A trick is to block all cookies on NY Times, such that you don't have to pay for the articles.
VERY IMPORTANT: Do not limit yourself to this website, scholars! We highly recommend Avan's Alpaca Resources for extra information and a different perspective. They were our main resource during 2022! Pocketpwaa as a whole is intended to replicate the way Avan's Alpacas were used before.
