F Tuning
Another way to tune the tune is to tune the eight F-strings: F - B♭ - E♭ - A♭ - D♭ - G♭ - B♭ - E♭.
In this tuning, all strings are half a step down from the standard tuning. A lot of metal bands love this tuning, especially Meshuggah uses F tuning for most of the songs on the last two albums.
E Tuning
This 8 string guitar tuning is also known as a full step down
E tuning will have a tuning from E to D of the form: E - A - D - G - C - F - A - D with the 1st string tuned to D and the 8th string tuned to E. It's really cool and great because the bottom four strings are a standard four-string bass (E, A, D, G). However, the top six strings have standard chording and scale at one step down.
This 8 string guitar tuning is also known as a full step down. It is heavily used by Meshuggah.
Eb Tuning
The main Eb tuning and your one and a half steps down from the standard tuning. It will have the form: E♭ - A♭ - D♭ - G♭ - B - E - A♭ - D.
With this tuning, you can play all the songs you know when you play standard tuning. However, you can get a different tone. The songs seem to take on a completely different feel when you play them in Eb Tuning.
A Tuning
We have the 8th string tuned to A and the first string is adjusted to G
A tuning aka three and one-half step down from standard tuning has the form: A - D - G - C - F - A - D - G. In this tuning we have the 8th string tuned to A and the first string is adjusted to G.
High A Tuning
High A tuning will give you a pretty high and treble tone, this tuning has the form: B - E - A - D - G - B - E - A. In tuning, the 8th string is adjusted to B and the 1st string tuned to A. If you listen to Rusty Cooley's music you'll find that most of his songs use this tuning.
Drop E Tuning
Both the 1st and 8th strings are tuned to E
Drop E tuning is one that can cover the standard guitar range and bass. It has the form E - B - E - A - D - G - B - E.
In this tuning, both the 1st and 8th strings are tuned to E. It is a combination of a full step 8th string reduction with the standard 7th string tuning.
Drop E tuning is very suitable for electric chords and bass guitar songs.
