Born in Osaka, Japan, and raised in New Jersey, Sayuri Miyamoto holds degrees from Yale University, the Juilliard School, and Manhattan School of Music, where she received her doctorate. Her teachers have included Leonard Eisner, Donald Currier, Nadia Reisenberg, and Seymour Lipkin. She has appeared as solo and chamber recitalist and soloist with orchestras across the U.S. Among her many honors are the New York Japanese American Association Music Prize and being named one of the top eight contestants at the Clara Haskil International Piano Competition in Vevey, Switzerland.
In addition to her teaching studio, Sayuri serves on the coaching staff of the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras and is in much demand as a coach/accompanist throughout the Boston area. She has been heard in recital and on WGBH radio with the late Marylou Speaker Churchill, former principal second violinist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and collaborates with many other prominent local artists. She resides in Newton with her husband, Joel Bard.
