Rizal arrived at Singapore.
Rizal boarded the ferry Djemnah at Singapore at 2 p.m. to continue his journey to Spain. He discovered the yacht to be tidy and well-kept.
Rizal arrived at Punta de Gales.
He departed Punta de Gales for Colombo at 7:30 a.m. Rizal landed at Colombo in the afternoon, and thus the journey was resumed in the evening.
Rizal arrived at the Suez Canal on his way to Marseilles.
Barcelona. He discovered it to be a wonderful city with an open and liberal environment. He also discovered its inhabitants to be open-hearted, welcoming, and brave. He adored promenading through Barcelona's iconic Las Ramblas area.
Madrid. Rizal enrolled in the Central University of Madrid. He enrolled in courses in Medicine, Philosophy, and Letters. Rizal led a humble life in Madrid, knowing that he had come to study and prepare for duty to his home land.
Switzerland
Italy. He arrived in Rome. The sights and recollections of the Eternal City—Rome—enchanted him.
