Rizal's Close Family

The Rizals are one of the biggest families and clans during the Spanish colonization of the Philippines. In the late 1600s, a full-blooded Chinese named Domingo Lamco came to the Philippines and married a half-blooded Chinese woman named Ines de la Rosa. Domingo Lamco is considered as Rizal's paternal descent.

Dr. Jose Rizal had a 13-member family. He was the second son and the seventh child.

Dr. Jose Rizal's father.

Teodora Alonso

Dr. Jose Rizal's mother.

Saturnina Rizal

First and eldest daughter of Francisco and Teodora. Wife of Manuel T. Hidalgo who resided in Tanawan Batangas.

Paciano Rizal

The only brother and second child. Later on in his life, he became part of the Philippine Revolution

Narcisa Rizal

Third child. She became a teacher and a musician.

Olympia Rizal

Fourth child and unfortunately died from childbirth.

Lucia Rizal

Fifth child and married to Matriano Herbosa

Maria Rizal

Sixth child.

Jose Rizal

The hero himself. He is the second son and the seventh child.

Concepcion Rizal

Eighth child and died at the age of three.

Josefa Rizal

Ninth child, died as a spinster.

Trinidad Rizal

Tenth child, died a spinster as well..

Soledad Rizal

Youngest in the family.
