Jim Apgar and crew completed this year's walleye stocking last Friday. Outside of some windy conditions the stocking went smoothly.
Hopefully these fingerlings make it to catchable sizes soon! We would like to stress to the fishing community at PLP that any walleye that are caught should be released and reported to Jim Apgar or PLP Fish Committee leadership. Pictures are always welcome!
With all the walleye that were caught ice fishing last year, we are going to attempt to tag any that are hooked over this winter season in order to track size and location. Please remind all family members of your camp about the reporting of any walleye especially in the case of any tagged fish.
We hope that in a few years the population and sizes will improve to the point that we can start taking some home for dinner, but in the first few years of our trial at PLP, we would like to promote catch and release to allow the populations to grow.
Thank you all for your support of this project and please reach out with any questions.
