PURPOSE
PURPOSE
Plot Twist Book Club was created with Gen Z and community engagement in mind. While doing my comparative analysis with other Book Clubs, I noticed that the biggest weakness of other projects like mine were that there was still a lack of true connection between book club members. I noticed that other book clubs were not utilizing the working technology of online communities like Slack or Discord to its fullest potential. Through the use of online community chats, in-person and online meetings, and catering specifically to Gen Z readers – Plot Twist Book Club aims to provide a truly engaging book club experience for NYC readers in its own unique way.

This project serves as a kickstart to creating effective communities of readers. We plan to continue this project and expand the Plot Twist community further – perhaps even creating social media accounts and more themes.

The project was executed through a series of steps, including research on reading habits and community engagement strategies, collaboration with Beta Testers in order to learn any critiques that were needed, development of a website, Discord, and booklist. Software such as website builders and communication platforms like Discord were utilized. Coordination was needed for in-person events, depending on the chosen location.

As a Gen Z young adult who has always been enamored by the reading world and passionate about promoting literacy within the community, Genesis has always had a strong interest in running a successful book club. With her background in eventing and organizing several community platforms for different university clubs and outside organizations, she plans to utilize her past experiences to create a reading community that actively engages and alleviates the current epidemic of loneliness amongst young American adults.
