Changes in History

In 1921-1922 a total of 5 theaters opened up in Downtown Cleveland. They included Mimi Ohio, Connor Palace, Keybank State, Allen and Hanna.

Due to the rise of television all the theaters, aside from Hanna closed between 1968-1969. They were able to reopen years later.

In 1973 the Playhouse Square Foundation was formed and is running to this day.

In 1999 the foundation bought the Hanna theater making it the first time that all 5 theaters were owned by the same organization.

Cleveland State University did a study in 2004 to see what the economic impact of the Playhouse Square Foundation and found it to be 43 million dollars per year.

Playhouse Sqaure hopes to restart almost all it's shows and performances in 2021 after being closed in 2020 due to the Coronavirus.
