Coffee Breaks

What are Platypus Coffee Breaks?

Platypus hosts informal catch-ups on campus for any students who wish to partake—no background or prior knowledge of the Left is required. We read recent articles published on the Left about current events, discussing them along with whatever else comes up in the course of our conversation.

Coffee Breaks might be of particular interest to students who are new to the Left, or who can’t commit to our weekly reading group; all others are welcome too.

Usually, we discuss a few articles about current events and the Left’s response (local and international). Sometimes, if an interesting historical topic comes up during our weekly reading group, we will set it aside for a Coffee Break. Occasionally, a guest invitee from the Left will join us. Otherwise, we read the latest issue of our monthly journal, the Platypus Review.

Follow us on Austin & San Antonio Instagram for by-the-minute updates.

Join our #Announcements page for any last-minute updates (such as location change etc.) and feel free to keep the discussion going on Discord. You can also fill out our interest form to receive information by email about our upcoming public events: https://forms.gle/yZ9syk9544bHCVzt8

We’ll place copies of the Platypus Review on the table so you know it’s us!
