Initiatives Under PlasticFreeNC
A project that focuses on the harmful effects of single-use plastic bags, educating the public, and promoting greener alternatives. For over 4 years, we have hustled this issue on many fronts such as political advocacy, organization partnerships, and public speaking.
Marine debris has become an increasingly severe problem along North Carolina's coast. As divers, we believe that it is our duty to resolve this problem and we encourage other divers to join us in our fight against marine debris. So far, we have dove the Florida Keys, the Outer Banks, and other SCUBA attractions across eastern North Carolina. While doing so, we are able to pick up trash so we can preserve our underwater ecosystems.
By implementing art into modern-day issues, we are able to widely spread the issues that we are passionate about. Creating artworks with plastic, reusing waste as creative material, and spreading our interests through art are some of the things we do with the Recycled Art Project!
A natural filtration device that is designed and created with single-use plastic items. This innovation was aimed to tackle many ongoing environmental issues such as pollution, recycling, and water quality. In the summer of 2020, the Green Team entered the EarthEcho OurEcho Challenge using the Floating Island and became one of 10 national, finalist teams.
Environmental Droners is a technology-based initiative that is dedicated to re-igniting the passion youth hold for our environment through drone technology. We wish for Environmental Droners to be seen as a community initiative empowering youth to spread awareness about the mass amount of pollution amassing in our community.
