Code of Conduct
Attendees of the Exoplanets Orbiting Hot Stars conference are expected to behave respectfully and professionally throughout the conference. The conference organizers are dedicated to providing an inclusive and safe conference experience for everyone regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, age, or religion.
Harassment in any form will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Disparaging comments (verbal or written) related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion
- Verbal harassment or intimidation
- Sexual images in public spaces, or displayed in talks or posters
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
- Harassing photography or recording
- Sustained disruption of talks or other events
- Inappropriate physical contact
- Unwelcome sexual attention
- Advocating or encouraging any of the above behavior
In addition, sexual or otherwise offensive language and imagery are not appropriate for any conference venue, including talks and any of the conference-related activities (i.e., conference banquet, meals, and breaks).
Reporting and Enforcement
If you wish to report harassment, suspect that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the conference organizing committee immediately: Keivan Stassun, Karen Collins, Marshall Johnson, or Ryan Oelkers. No one will be faulted for making a report in good faith about suspected harassment. The committee’s response to the harassment will be based on discussion and agreement with the person being harassed, with action taken accordingly. This can range from the group or individual perpetrating the harassment being asked to stop, to their exclusion from the rest of the meeting without refund.

The Exoplanets Orbiting Hot Stars conference and its participants are covered under Vanderbilt's antiharassment policy, and as such, any violations will be reported to Vanderbilt: "Vanderbilt University prohibits discrimination against qualified individuals based on their status as protected veterans or individuals with disabilities, and prohibits discrimination against all individuals based on their race, color, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or national origin. Vanderbilt University also prohibits harassment of individuals on the basis of their membership in any of the aforementioned categories.
