Dr. Buck Kinney became the pastor of Plains Baptist Church January 1, 2017. Dr. Kinney previously served as Senior Pastor at Bronwood Baptist Church in Bronwood, GA (2014 - 2016), and as Sunday School Teacher and Deacon at Central Baptist Church in Americus, GA. Dr. Kinney graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Georgia Southwestern State University (2001), a Masters in Theology from Liberty University (2014), and a Doctor of Ministry in Biblical Preaching from Anderson University (2022). He is currently pursuing a PhD in Leadership from Anderson University. 

Dr. Kinney currently serves as the Associate Associational Mission Strategist with the Friendship Baptist Association. He is an Adjunct Professor with the Georgia Baptist Bible Institute of Brewton Parker Christian University, and serves as Chairman of the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Unit of the Boys & Girls Club in Plains, GA.

He and his wife, Beth, have been married since July 2001. They have two sons, Kolden and William.
