Procedure
Step 1: Food waste buckets are dropped off and collected for processing within the bucket shed.
Step 2: Food waste is weighed and recorded.
Step 3: Carbon, in the form of wood pellets, is added in a 1:4 ratio. One pound of pellets for every four pounds of food waste.
Step 4: Carbon and food waste are mixed together and broken down.
Step 5: Carbon/food waste mixture is added to the drum composter, which is then rotated.
Step 6: After ~30 days, compost emerges at the end of the drum composter and collects in the cart.
Step 7: The compost is emptied into wind rows and left to sit for ~6 months, continuing to break down and de-acidify.
Step 8: Dirty buckets are washed, and placed back into the bucket shed for pickup.
