Welcome to a collection of watercolor paintings that blend fluid motion with vibrant color. Each piece captures delicate details and expressive moods, using soft washes, layered tones, and natural textures to evoke emotion and atmosphere. From serene landscapes to intimate portraits, these artworks celebrate the beauty of imperfection and spontaneity unique to watercolor. Watercolor portraits are a little quicker to complete than an oil painting, because although they require me to build up many thin washes of paint, this paint dries instantly unlike oil paint layers which take days to dry.

It’s helpful to take a look through the pencil gallery and let me know which portraits are your favourites. You’re also welcome to get in touch for a chat any time without obligation.

Of course, the most important aspect of the portrait is to capture a good likeness and this is something I work hard to make sure I achieve. The process is very much collaborative, and I’ll ask you to check a scan of your portrait before it’s finished to make sure the likeness is spot on and to see if you want me to make amendments.
