To promote transparency and uphold academic integrity, authors are expected to follow these guidelines regarding the use of Generative AI (GenAI) tools in the preparation of their manuscripts.
Permissible Use
GenAI tools may be used to assist with drafting and refining the text, such as improving clarity or grammar. However, they must not be used to perform core intellectual tasks, including developing scientific ideas, formulating conclusions, or making original contributions. These responsibilities remain solely with the human authors.
Declaration of Use
Any use of GenAI tools must be clearly disclosed in a dedicated section of the paper (e.g., Declaration on Generative AI). This ensures transparency for readers and compliance with the terms of use of such tools. This requirement applies to all content generated after the policy takes effect.
Human Oversight Required
Authors must carefully review and revise any AI-assisted content. Directly copying and pasting output from GenAI tools without human verification is not allowed, as such content may include factual inaccuracies or reflect unintended biases. Authors bear full responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of their manuscripts.
AI Tools Cannot Be Listed as Authors
Authorship implies accountability, including the ability to take responsibility for the work and respond to critiques. As AI tools cannot fulfill these duties, they must not be credited as authors. Their contributions should instead be acknowledged in the appropriate section of the manuscript.
These guidelines may be updated to reflect ongoing developments in AI technologies.
