COACHING STAFF

Head Coach, Justin Miller

Coach Justin has 15 overall seasons coaching with the Park Center Wrestling Team, including 10 seasons as the Head Coach, and he also has 6 seasons as the Head Coach of the Park Center Freshman Football Team. He wrestled for Park Center from 2000-2006 and graduated as a 2-time state entrant, 2-time all-conference, and section champion with 131 career victories and 86 career pins. In 2020, he was named Section 5AAA Head Coach of the Year, and in 2017, he founded and began coaching the Pirate Youth Wrestling Club. Justin spent 9 years working at Park Center High School as a Special Ed ESP, and is now a Project Consultant with a local company selling roofing and exterior projects.

Coach Justin lives in Brooklyn Center with his wife, Amanda, and three boys, Kellen, Kuyper, and Keaton.

Assistant Coach, Greg Nelson

Coach Greg is in his 10th season coaching for the Pirates. He was a wrestler and all-American gymnast at Robbinsdale Armstrong high school, and a member of the University of Minnesota Gophers wrestling team. Greg owns and operates the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy in Brooklyn Center where he coaches jiu jitsu, muay thai, MMA, Filipino martial arts, and more. He's a 5th degree black belt in BJJ, a 6th degree muay Thai black belt, and coached four UFC Champions (Dave Menne, Sean Sherk, Brock Lesnar, Rose Namajunas). Greg is a 2X cancer survivor of non-hodgkins lymphoma and was the first known survivor of neurolymphomatosis cancer. Greg was named the 2023 Section 5AAA Assistant Coach of the Year. 

Coach Greg is father to his daughter, Nina and son, Gunnar.

Assistant Coach, Tyler Johnson

Coach Ty is in his 10th season coaching with the Park Center Wrestling Team, and he also has 6 seasons as a coach of the Park Center Freshman Football Team. He wrestled for Park Center from 1999-2001 and then served in multiple active-duty tours with the Marine Corps. When his time in the Marine Corps came to a close, Tyler attended the University of Minnesota where he earned a starting spot on the Gophers Football team as a walk-on. Coach Ty graduated with a degree in kinesiology, afterward spending several years as a personal trainer. He is now the owner of his own construction business. 

Coach Ty is father to his three daughters, Aunica, Autumn, and Adelia.
