We are not a resort. We are a working ranch that has been in our family since right after the Civil War. There are no lodgings. Our whitetail hunts are conducted from blinds or from perch with or without accompanying feeders. depending on your preference. The hunt is semi-guided. Your “guides” have grown up working, hunting, and playing on the ranch.
We will escort you to your blind and pick you up when the hunt has ended. There is a morning and evening hunt. An afternoon guided hunt that is for those who don't want to sit in the cold, alone, waiting for the opportunity to see a deer. This hunt will be conducted from a moving vehicle and is designed to flush out the deer from hiding or catch them on the move. While more proactive, they do not insure success and are only available upon request.
We do offer separate morning or evening hunts for those who have time constraints.
We drive old trucks and speak redneck which it is our native tongue. We are able to understand the Queen's English and are able to communicate Spanish passably. Hablamos un poquito espanol tambien, y siempre listos aprender mas.
Over the years, and have determined that dawn and dusk hunting is the way to go on this ranch. If we spend the middle of the day hunting safari style or spot and stalk, this generally disrupts the normal movement of the animals, and the evening hunt will not be nearly as good as if we let the animals rest during the day. A typical hunt is 2 to 4 hours in the morning and 2 to 4 in the evening depending on time of year and animal activity.
