Name: Senada
Alias(es): Senne (Link)
Captain Senada
Lady Senada (Celeste)
The Lady of the Forest
The Protector of Life
Age: 20 years (same as Link)
Gender: Female
Species: Hylian
Family: Link (brother-like relationship)
Friends: Celeste
Vaati
Mardove (familiar)
Ricky the Kangaroo
Maple the Witch
This Senada is much older and wears a more regal yet adventure-appropriate outfit. She fashions a rose dress with a darker red gradient. This flow of the dress and vest-like bodice gives her a fashionable and smart look. On her arms are gold circlets decorated with light blue feathers, matching the feathery skirt underneath the dress. To give her a more powerful and skilled look, Senada sports black leggings and knee-high brown boots. Her boots have short heels and are decorated with small flowers and leaves, matching the flowers stitched onto her dress, resembling her connection to nature. Further elevating her design is the embroidering on each section of her dress as well as the gold braclet on her right arm. For more accessories, this young lady bears two necklaces with pearls and she styles her sage stones as earrings. For her hair, she leaves in a long, loose, creamy-blonde ponytail, decorated with flowers, vines, and two braides.
Senada is still the sassy shapeshifter she's always been. Only, now she's even more confident and vain-- though it's sometimes unclear if the exaggerated boost is just for show. Another notable change is her planning-- she's not just a strategist, she's the stradegist and every move in the battlefield is accounted for. While she can change her plans to better suit the situation, she's not as adaptive as she'd like to be. Ironically, nature is all about adapting and so she must learn how to do so. Even if she spends a lot of time on her battle tactics, she still dreams of romance. Senada's a helpless romantic and hope that one day, after all this is over, she'll find a nice man to settle down with. However, it is notable that this dream is much tamer and quitier than when she was young. Her biggest priorities now is her brother and the forests-- she knows she could lose them in the midst of all this violence.
*As usual, her original background serves as a base for her background
*The Celeste AU is an AU directly inspired by Nintendo's Kid Icarus: Uprising (2012) and follows a more basic template of its course of events
*Instead of just honing in on only Senada's portion of the story, I have decided to include the entirity of the Celeste AU
Rumors of Ganon’s return begin to spread. Portals to the Dark World rip apart the earth, providing gateways for monsters. One portal manages to snatch Link, trapping him in the Dark World for two years. Zelda, at a loss without Hyrule’s champion, decides to wage war against Ganon’s forces. Senada though, decides to leave Hryule in search of her brother. She manages to grow her party along the way, who were also investigating the rifts.
The group manages to pull Link out of the Dark World somewhere in Holodrum. When they start on their way home, however, walls of black magic sprout from the ground, closing any entry to Hryule and Labrynna. Armies of monsters are the only ones who seem to find a way in, and they take over resources in order to prep for the war. It seems Ganon wanted to cut off any potential allies to Hyrule, keeping all of them busy.
Seeing their plight, Link and Senada decide to help free the people and resources from Ganon’s clutches, as they try to find a way home simultaneously. As they do this, their group grows into an army. Hylians who were trapped on the other side, Labrynnians who were affected by the loss of water resources, and Holodrumians who lost earthly resources, were some of the main contenders for their army. Though some were warriors who lost everything— like Celeste. Celeste was found in a ransacked village, with no family in sight. The army takes her in and only later realize her electric powers. Since Celeste is a bit younger than Link and Senada, Celeste only became a captain recently where the story/game opens up. She mainly does solo missions after an incident with her powers and old battalion.
Mission one: Holodrum
Enemy: Ganon’s forces
In this section, you get to play as all three captains (Senada, Link, and Celeste) as they each take on their respective missions. In dialogue (made possible by the characters’ telepathic sage stones), all three characters are present. Some missions here include gathering magic stones for the magic cannon, rescuing Din, and taking back pieces of land. Ricky and Maple occasionally appear.
Though they don’t yet have all the stones required for the canon, the army manages to find a weaker barrier and cross to Labrynna. It’s here we meet Vaati, the Wind Mage, fighting off enemies by himself. Because of his mystical abilities, he’s able to break into the telepathic communications of the sage stones without one. It turns out that the dark magic going around in their world had begun to seep into the Picori world and Master Ezlo had sent him investigate what exactly was going on in the human world.
Vaati though, had gotten captured by enemy forces and woke up in Labrynna. Apparently, a group of bandits had been kidnapping magic users and taking them prisoners for cash, trying to use their magic for weapon enchantments and whatever the monsters commanded of them. The hideout-prison had been somewhat near the border. Vaati had escaped and run away, but still trapped inside Labrynna because of the magic walls.
Misson two: Labrynna
Enemy: Ganon’s forces
You can still play as all three captains. In dialogue, Vaati also joins in (he doesn’t fight because he’s recovering). Some missions include: rescuing the captured mages, reclaiming water sources, and finding more of the magical orbs for the cannon.
Upon getting all magical orbs, the cannon is at full power and is able to break through the immense magical wall blocking Hyrule. They manage to connect with Princess Zelda and her troops, which includes Link’s father and his knights. The reunion is short-lived however, as Ganon— now Ganondorf— is made aware of Link’s return. He creates a barrier around the Temple of Hylia, which safe keeps the Master Sword.
Link and his friends, however, with their cannon, decide to try and push through anyway.
Mission three: Hryule and Picori Realm
Enemy: Ganondorf’s army
Since Link and Senada are busy looking for a new hideout for their troops, most of these missions are done by Celeste. However, Vaati helps you fight as an NPC in all the Picori battles and Link’s father (plus his men) serve as Celeste’s new battalion in the other battles. The characters are able to enter the Minish realm because they’re still pure of heart. As for dialogue, Zelda occasionally make an appearance— but more importantly, so does Ezlo! Missions here include helping the Picori and helping Hryule’s knights.
A few battles in, Link and Senada seem to disappear. The others mistake this as them being busy finding a hideout, until Link reappears halfway through after hitting a town with the cannon. He speaks darkly and its reported that he removed all his troops and his aid. It becomes apparent that he’s not himself. Vaati and Zelda are able to tell that he’s been possessed by something— or, at the very least, being influenced by something.
Link doesn’t communicate much until Celeste gets to the hideout, an old abandoned castle with a still-working security system. There, Link tells them through the power of the sage stones of his newfound hate for humanity. For years, he believed that as the Hero, he spread hope and courage to the people— but the war has proved otherwise. They cower and fight only for themselves, pathetic and useless, waiting for the Hero to arrive and save them from the results of their own weakness.
Celeste, desperate to rescue those who saved her, must go through the castle to get to Link.
Mission four: Hyrule
Enemy: Possessed Link
This mission is completely done by Celeste, leading Leon and his knights. The only mission is to get through the castle to Link, though the boss battle is only fought by Celeste (Leon and the others get locked out). Link’s boss fights consists of three phases and ends with an extra battle against the tenta-cute itself. He steals Link’s soul to use as fuel in its weakened state. The tenta-cute is the creature responsible for possessing Link. Much of the dialogue is between Vaati and Celeste, but there are memorable interactions including Zelda, Ganondorf, and occasionally the knights. During the fight though, it's reported that the cannon has gone missing.
After defeating Link and the tenta-cute, he falls unconscious. Recovering the castle, the group is able to unlock and the gates and let their soldiers in, who are more than happy to look after Link while Celeste searches for Senada. Thankfully, it’s not hard to find to find her.
Not long after Celeste flies out, she hears and notices a group of people screaming and running in the opposite direction, seemingly pursued by… birds? That’s when Senada returns, plagued by the same possession.
Senada has taken advantage of the destruction lead by possessed Link and the cannon, sending in birds dropping magical Deku seeds. The seeds grow trees even faster and animals come to destroy the towns. Senada claims that, for far too long, humans have abused the forests and killed the creatures. Now, it’s up to her to make the world beautiful again by making nature dominant.
Celeste tracks her down to the Temple of Time, where she lived during her childhood. There, Celeste must engage in other boss fight against her own captains to return Senada to normal.
Mission five: Hyrule woods
Enemy: Possessed Senada
This mission is also done solely by Celeste with her battalion. Since Link remains unconscious, he doesn’t return until the very end, meaning we have the same cast for dialogue. Senada’s boss battle also consists of three stages, but instead of a bonus fight, the tenta-cute runs away. Celeste must follow it into the lost woods, where the creature will try to hide while you battle monsters like skeletons and skull kids. To defeat the tenta-cute, you have to attack it enough whenever it shows itself. (Vaati is able to teleport Celeste out of the Lost Woods afterwards).
After defeating the tenta-cute and Link returning, Celeste is awarded her vines and Vaati becomes a captain. The group has to decide what to do about the Master Sword. The cannon has been damaged during the fight with Senada (who had stolen it) and repairing might take too long— Ganondorf’s army is moving fast and they’ll need something else in the meantime. Recalling legends and weapons Senada had read to Link when they were young, Link sets on finding an arguably equally powerful weapon: the sword of the Fierce Deity. However, to get the sword, they have to get the mask.
Mission six: Termina
Enemy: Ganondorf’s forces
This mission is lead by Link. The main goal is to fight off Ganondorf’s forces as they try to keep you away from the clock tower that teleports you to Termina. Once in Termina, you must find their version of the Temple of Time where the mask lies.
Halfway through mission six, Senada returns. Not only that, but Zelda has news on the possible first sighting of the tenta-cutes. If her soldiers are right, then they were sighted flying away from Gerudo Valley. Knowing of the Gerudo’s history with Ganondorf, she sends her troops to confront the Gerudo.
When Celeste arrives at Gerudo Town, she finds that Zelda has already engaged in combat. The princess claims that she had only approached with a few guards, but that an arrow had been shot at them from somewhere over the town’s wall and her soldiers came to defend her. She tells Celeste she’s been trying to find one of the Gerudo’s captains to ask for a truce and talk things out, but she hasn’t found anyone. Celeste flies over, scanning for any of the captains when she sees two strange hooded figures in the crowd.
Following them, who send fireballs at here, they reveal themselves to be the Twinrova. Celeste keeps following them as they zoom through the now mostly empty Gerudo Town, pressured by Celeste and her team for information. It turns out that these witches were the ones who made the tenta-cutes as a sort of magical experiment using parts of a monster named Bellum. The white one that had attacked Senada wasn’t originally part of the plan though as it wasn’t as strong as her brother yet, they had planned to try and use it on Zelda. The plan was to get Link and Zelda on Ganondorf’s side. Admittedly, they were actually very pleased with the chaos Senada caused. Moreover, they were responsible for the arrow fired at Zelda.
The Gerudo had apparently refused to serve Ganondorf. Angered, Ganondorf had ordered the Twinrova to hide among them and release the first tenta-cute to arouse suspicion. When Zelda had come, he took the opportunity to highten the conflict and make them squirm. His hope was that they would beg him for forgiveness and another opportunity.
Mission seven: Gerudo Valley
Enemy: The Twinrova
This mission is started by Celeste as you chase the Twinrova through Gerudo Town while they try to shoot you down. After the witches fly away and set the town on fire, Vaati flies in and tells you he can handle the rest. That means that for this battle, you get to play as Vaati! Flying through the Gerudo Desert, you must defeat the witches in a mage battle.
After defeating the Twinrova and making amends with the Gerudo, the group decides to travel to a mine Ganondorf’s forces have recently taken from the Gorons. Not only will they be taking the land back for the Gorons, but they can look for a special ore to fix the cannon. Senada, hoping to make things right, decides to take on the mission. After all, it was her actions that damaged the cannon and ruined their chance for the master sword.
Mission eight: Goron mine
Enemy: Ganondorf’s forces
This mission is fully completed by Senada. This chapter mainly goes back to the main cast for dialogue (Link, Senada, Celeste, and Vaati). For this mission, you have to battle through Ganondorf’s monsters while making your way through the tunnels. At the end, you get to fight a classic rock-monster mini boss fight. Funnily enough, the rock monster breaks into the ore you need.
Suddenly, Ganondorf unleashes a siege on the Zora. It’s rumored that he himself is leading the invasion. Zelda, knowing the Zoras were already allies, asks Link and his army for help. Together, all parties fight against the invasion. Only, Ganondorf is nowhere to be seen.
Mission ten: Zora’s Domain
Enemy: Ganondorf??? Phantom Ganon!
All playable characters are available here. Dialogue includes both Senada and Link’s army and the Hyrulean army. Fight through Phantom Ganondorf’s army.
It was a diversion. Ganondorf had used the invasion as bait while he snuck up on Hyrule Castle, overtaking it. Now, they must find a way to reclaim it.
Mission eleven: Hryule field + Castle Town
Enemy: Ganondorf’s forces
Fight your way to Hyrule castle. All characters playable. All characters in dialogue.
Once inside, Link must face against Ganondorf. Other characters are locked out from the battle. Many go back to lead their troops.
Mission twelve: Dark Hyrule Castle
Enemy: Ganondorf himself
A classic boss fight between Link and Ganondorf, finishing him off in Fierce Deity form. Once Ganondorf has been defeated, he gets turned back into his boar form. In his boar form, the cannon has been fixed and you must use all your resources and characters to take the beast down. Once you have won, the war is finally over.
Senada has mastered her druid abilities now and uses them over a sword. She can transform into a giant dragon to defeat an army of enemies or a dodogono to deal a small group of heavy-hitters. Whatever she needs to escape of fight, she'll figure out how to get through her powers. For closer combat, she can still pull out her sword or slash at the foe with bear claws. And, of course, as an honorary member of the animal kingdom, Senada has the ability to speak to animals and has a wide array of knowledge on them. In fact, Senada will sometimes translate for the player (if Link doesn't) or share a fun fact about animals the player passes. She can help make deductions about monsters by comparing them to animals too, but Link is really the guy to go for those kinds of things.
Even though Mardove doesn't appear to much, he's still Senada's special buddy. There's not too much of a change in their dynamic, though they hardly spend time apart now. The few times they seperate is when Senada heads to missions, but even then he'll still follow her sometimes or stay with Link who understand him and can talk to Senada via the sage stones. Mardove can still work as a spy, scout, or a messenger if there's no sage stone communication available. Since Mardove is her dearest confidant, Senada finds it a bit difficult to let him into the larger battlefield.
These two are still two peas in a pod, an inseparable duo. They still think of each other as siblings, and they still call each other so. One would think that because Link had disappeared, Senada would have become clingy or overprotective, but it's actually the opposite. She's still aware of his strength and skill, and knows he can take care of himself. That doesn't stop her from worrying, of course. She worries about his impulsivity, how he lets his heart lead him instead of his wisdom. Senada sees how Link always tries to rescue every person, save every one of his soldiers, and while she's glad he hasn't lost his character, she's worried of what this could bring.
Celeste has a lot of respect for Senada, which Senada herself finds extremely flattering. Much like Link, Senada admire's Celeste's youthful and hopeful energy and spirit. Sure, her bubbly nature and chaotic powers can be a lot to handle from time to time, but she's a promising youn soldier nonetheless. The two care for each other deeply and Senada's begun to think of her as family too. She wishes for nothing but the best for Celeste and feels heavy guilt for attacking and insulting her while she was possessed.
Surprisingly, these two get along quite nicely. Being that she wasn't there when Vaati had attacked and Link has shown forgiveness, Senada's intrust is able to turn into interest. They're both booksmart and snarky which makes for both fun conversations and battles of witty remarks-- or some suspcious flirty shenanigains. Vaati and Senada would actually be a pretty great team if they didn't tend to start bickering when working together (although, Vaati can bicker with just about anyone). The two think pretty similar when it comes to leadership, as they're both lead by logic instead of emotion.
Note: This character only appears in the manga but is only referred to as "father" and "captain". The name Leon was taken from the artist Land of Ink and Charcoal as a sort of placeholder, but was never changed.
After spending years apart, Leon and Senada began to realize how much they cared about each other after reuniting. While Senada wishes Leon had looked harder for his son (as he didn't come with her), she acknowledges his efforts to try and fix everything. Leon is eternally grateful to the young lady, being that she rescued his son. The two are finally warming up to each other, slowly coming to think of the other as family too. They're connected by Link.
She designed all the captains' outfits (including Link and Celeste)
Thinks Vaati is pretty handsome
It was Senada's idea to gift the vines to soldiers who performed heroic and self-sacrificing acts after finding the magic crystals that made the vines
She's actually the second captain with the least amount of feathers... by a few-- Celeste has the least (feathers with gradients belonged to soldiers who passed away)
Technically, as this army started off as Senada's expidition/forest rangers, Senada's the true founder, Link is more a face of the operation but people still come to him more often

The first drawing of her design
A fun sketchpage where I allowed myself to practice crazy expressions and poses regarding possessed Link and Senada
"You're only starting a new war! Beauty and life can't be made by shedding blood!" Celeste cried, desperately.
Senada snickered. "Oh, Celeste. Every canvas needs its paint."
A page with a whole bunch of Senada reactions, much like what we see in Kid Icarus: Uprising, the inspiration for this AU
The last three expressions are exclusive to the chapters when she's possessed, as she gets more unhinged the closer you get to her battle.
