Master Teacher Candidate Summer Training Days 2-3, July 27-28, 2026

Powerful professional learning moves beyond knowing what effective instruction looks like to experiencing it, examining it, and preparing to put it into practice.

Master Teacher Candidates (MTCs) spent two days digging more deeply into effective math and science teaching and learning. Much of their time was devoted to math and science breakout groups, allowing teachers to focus on the practices, standards, instructional strategies, and learning experiences most important within their disciplines. Science MTCs explored three-dimensional sensemaking through classroom examples across grade levels, while math MTCs examined mathematical practices, learning progressions, representations, fluency, and connections to effective mathematics teaching practices.

Across the two days, MTCs also continued refining their shared vision for effective instruction, prepared to develop meaningful norms with students and colleagues, and connected their learning experiences to the Six Phases of Learning. They began considering how their growing instructional expertise will translate into leadership through their school's Driving Possibilities Leadership Team.
