Our Driving Possibilities journey with six identified Fayette County schools began in March 2026. Year 1 concluded in June 2026 and focused primarily on supporting district- and school-level leaders. In partnership with project leadership and principals. Master Teacher Candidates were identified and began their four-year leadership development journey.
Year 2, runs from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. During this year, the project continues to provide professional learning and coaching for school-level leaders and Master Teacher Candidates. Project leaders also worked with principals to identify elementary mathematics and science teachers with zero to three years of teaching experience. At the middle and high school levels, support includes mathematics teachers with zero to three years of experience. In science, all seventh- and eighth-grade teachers and high school Freshman Academy teachers are working toward the effective implementation of OpenSciEd instructional units.
Each school has also established a Driving Possibilities Leadership Team composed of school administrators and Master Teacher Candidates. These teams help guide implementation, strengthen collaboration, and build each school’s capacity to sustain the work.
In Year 3, July 1, 2027 - June 30, 2028 all current participant groups will continue their work, while the project expands to include all other mathematics and science teachers in grades 3–12 across the six schools, beginning in summer 2027. All project groups will continue meeting and receiving support throughout Year 4, July 1, 2028 - June 30, 2029.
Year 5 will serve as the project’s sustainability year. Each Driving Possibilities Leadership Team will reflect on the practices, structures, and supports developed throughout the project and determine how the school can maintain, strengthen, and continue this work beyond the formal funding period.
