Writing Prompts
Practice writing using these writing prompts. There are two options for each prompt- one with a sentence starter and words to trace and one with open lines.
**For "Who Drives the Bus," students write the first part of the sentence to name who is driving the bus and who is not driving the bus.
(ex: My mom drives the bus. The cat is not driving the bus.)
Strong, Silly, Not Safe?
In this activity, students will pretend to be the bus driver and listen to the pigeon who wants to drive the bus. For each reason the pigeon gives, students will decide if the statement is strong, silly, or not safe, and then explain their thinking!
**For younger students, this can be done as a full group. For older students, each student can receive a card or partners can do this together and sort the cards.
Persuade Like a Pigeon!
The pigeon tries to persuade the bus driver to let him drive the bus. In this activity, students will practice their persuasion skills with silly prompts where they will try to convince their class to do specific things!
** For younger students, this can be done as a full group. For older students, each student can receive a card and share with the full class or write about their prompt.
