Pierce wins his third Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational - 06-14-25
A mixed-weather weekend made the 2025 iteration of the Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway a challenge. Driving for both Arrive Drive Motorsports (#26 Elan DP08 - Group 9F4) and Barron Racing (#58 Lynx FV - Group 1FV), Pierce had to adapt to two completely different cars in changing weather.
Having topped both 9F4 and 1FV Qualifying 2 sessions, he was starting deep in the field in the Group 9 race. Managing a misfire, he somehow went from 27th on the grid to 10th within 11 corners before a race-ending caution came out. With only five minutes between races, he quickly switched over to the #58 for the Group 1 race. Starting this time from Pole Position, Pierce fought tooth and nail with his teammate for the win in quickly deteriorating conditions, where he ended up with the winning pass on the final lap.
Upon reaching victory lane, Pierce was overcome with emotion as he emerged from the cockpit. Having previously won both races the year prior with Arrive Drive Motorsports in Group 9, he finally took home the top spot in Group 1.
"I wasn't sure what to expect this weekend, with the forecast looking mixed as the week progressed. I knew I had a great shot at the win this week, despite having never driven this car until two days ago. I also only found out that I was also in Group 9 two days ago as well. I drove my heart out in the Group 9 race for all eleven corners before the caution ended the race. I passed seventeen cars in that time. Not one, or two, but SEVENTEEN. With an engine misfire at that! I would have had a very good shot at the win there if there was one more lap. I absolutely love racing in the rain!" said Pierce during the podium interview. "That performance only fueled the fire for this Group 1 race. I knew I was at the top of my game today and could trust my teammates if we ended up fighting for the win. I have nothing but respect for everyone at Barron Racing. They put me in a race-winning car, it was just about swimming my way to the checkered flag. In the end, I'm speechless. My third win here at Indy. Still in awe and pure emotion every time I come through the gates here. To just drive here, is special. Winning here for the third time now, though, I still can't believe it!"
