Garlic scapes are the tender, green shoots that grow from the top of garlic plants. They are a seasonal vegetable that is harvested in the late spring or early summer, typically before the garlic bulbs are fully mature. Garlic scapes have a distinct, garlicky flavor that is slightly milder than garlic cloves, but still adds a delicious depth of flavor to dishes.

Shelling peas are a variety of peas grown primarily for the sweet, tender peas inside their inedible pods. Unlike snap peas or snow peas, the pods of shelling peas must be removed before eating, revealing the delicious, nutrient-rich peas within.

Sugar peas are a delicious and nutritious legume that are both crunchy and sweet. With their tender pods and delicate flavor, sugar peas are a versatile ingredient that can be used in a variety of dishes.

Sweet cherries are a variety of cherries known for their juicy, sweet flavor, making them perfect for eating fresh. They are typically larger and darker than sour cherries, and are often enjoyed as a snack or used in desserts and salads.

We do the planting and growing. You do the picking. It is as close as you can come to having your own garden without the space, work and expense. Due to our size, we can offer a diverse variety of many fruits and vegetables.

We present the opportunity to learn how different fruit crops are grown, see these fruits ripen and experience the difference in taste and appearance between varieties of each fruit. For instance, we grow 45 varieties of yellow and white peaches, picking for each variety lasts about a week and peach season lasts from July through September. We grow 30 varieties of both eating and cooking apples. Apple picking starts in early August.

Like apricots, cherries have a very short season and are quite sensitive to our Northeast weather conditions! Picking often lasts only one to three days each season so be sure to keep an eye on our website to get your chance!

White and yellow nectarines offer the same juiciness and great flavor as our peaches without the fuzz. Nectarines tend to be slightly smaller than their peach counterparts but are basically interchangeable with peaches for cooking or including them in fresh salads.

We grow 45 varieties of peaches. The varieties are both yellow and white, freestone and cling. Our newly planted varieties are adding excitement to our early picking season; don't miss our Desiree or Rich May peaches! Plums are a sweet delicious summertime treat. This fruit is also often used in baking (tarts, cobblers, turnovers) and can also be used to make jam, juice, and wine. Grilled plums can be added to a sweet dessert or drizzled with balsamic for a savory treat. Pop your plums in a dehydrator to make your own delicious prunes! Prunes can be pickled for a sensational and unusual side dish!

Our thornless blackberries are very large and are one of our easiest berries to pick. In addition to making excellent jam, Blackberries are high in vitamin C, K and in fiber and are terrific in smoothies or cocktails. They bring a fabulous burst of flavor to salads and bbq sauce. A staff favorite is a grilled blackberry, bacon and brie sandwich! What a treat!

We grow seven varieties of blueberries. Recent studies champion the health benefits of nutritious blueberries! Many visitors enjoy picking raspberries and blueberries as their seasons coincide for 2 weeks. Have you ever made a raspberry or blueberry pie?

Our 6 varieties of raspberries ripen during both an early summer and fall season. Early summer season is late June through mid-July. Raspberries are a little more work to pick than other berries but they're worth the effort! If you can get them home without eating them all (!), raspberries are fabulous in jam, salads, sauces, smoothies, cocktails and tarts. Raspberries pair well with chipotle or other hot peppers in glazes for a main course.

Our Pick-Your-Own season begins with strawberries in late May. Strawberries are the first PYO crop Linvilla ever offered and they're Farmer Norm's favorite crop! Strawberry picking is one of our best photo ops. Our Summer and Fall variety is Seascape and can be picked from late-June through mid-October. Linvilla is on the cutting edge of ever-bearing strawberry production which is new and evolving.

We grow a wide variety of eggplants in an interesting range of shapes and colors. Whether you plan to bake, broil or grill this fruit, you'll receive a ton of nutrients and health benefits. Eggplant is low in calories and sodium, and is a good source of dietary fiber, potassium, and B vitamins.

We also grow a wide variety of hot peppers in varying colors and intensities: Jalapeno, Habanero, Serrano, Cherry Bomb, Cayenne and more!

Rhubarb is a colorful and flavorful, yet under-appreciated, vegetable. Rhubarb is a great source of vitamin K1, which is important for blood clotting and bone health. Simmer chopped rhubarb, red onion, balsamic vinegar and mustard and create a lovely sauce for fish. A favorite recipe here at the farm is simply chopped rhubarb cooked down in a sauce pan with just water and sugar. Serve it over ice cream or yogurt for a taste of the past! Delicious!

Peonies are a beautiful flower used in cut flower bouquets and available for cut-your-own. They bloom for a few short weeks at the end of May to early June. Farmer Norm has dedicated a section of the farm to share the beauty of the Peony. It is a don't miss opportunity.
