Programmable Photonics
Programmable Photonics has become one of the most stimulating topics in photonics, as a fundamental platform for realizing Photonic AI & Photonic Quantum Computing.Â
The current architecture of programmable photonic circuits employs waveguide platforms, which inherently degrade scalability due to propagating natures of light.
For example, the spatial footprint & gate numbers in current programmable photonic circuits have O(N2) scaling.
Here, we are focusing on overcoming this limit by utilizing other physical axes instead of spatial domains,
in order to realize highly integrated programmable photonics & photonic AI! [arXiv:2305.17632]
